Will I make a rubbish CDC because of this ?

Loves VLCD's !
Hi all,

I am going to be applying to CD soon with the sponsorship of my lovely CDC.:) Just trying to get my BMI down another few points. Obviously it is making me think a lot and here is (maybe a problem)........:sigh:

I have never cheated on LL or CD....never strayed apart from Coke zero at Xmas which actually was endorsed by my LLC.

I often feel like a goody two-shoes but the fact is I am have been so determined. I am scared of coming out of ketosis and feeling hungry and blowing it. I just don't want to blow it. I have taken LL foundation stuff on board and try to look at what is going on for me rather than give in to food. Believe me I have gone through some traumatic and stressful stuff since being on a VLCD so it hasn't been plain sailing.

So will this put clients off ? I don't know what its like to cheat and then get back on the wagon ! I do sympathise, it isn't easy. But I don't know what its like as I have found other solutions.

Would be interested to know what CDCs think and also people who are on CD and have weighed up (no pun intended !:) ) what they were looking for in a CDC.

Thanks :D

I think you will make an excellent CDC you know what it is like to be overweight and you have succeeded on the diet

Hrm....thats really interesting. Personally, I think being a good CDC is how well you support, motivate and educate your clients about the diet. Also, you've been in the same position as them and got your weight down. So on that basis I think you'd be a grand CDC.

As for not being able to sympathise...hrm....well, it's not going to make you rubbish!! it will obviously make understanding people who fall off the wagon a little harder but I really don't think your clients will see it as a fault - hopefully they'll see it as something to aspire to.

A lot of us CDC's think that if we fall off our wagon, then our clients think we are weak.....so you can't really win either way!

Good luck with becoming a CDC.....it is rather exciting!!:D:D:D

Ain't that the truth!!

Every person brings something different to their counselling - whether it be an understanding of how to get back on the wagon, to the inspiration of bulling through to the end. Just be yourself, and your clients will benefit from your experiences, and you will benefit from your client's experiences.

Thanks everyone, I suppose I need to put this into perspective. There are strengths and weaknesses to having stayed on track and to having fallen off the wagon and re-started. What counts is the ability to support others and I would love to do that as its been such a life changing thing for me :)

If you found other ways, perhaps you would like to share them .....

Good luck with the CDC I think youll be great

I think you would be fantastic as a cdc, you are caring and helpful and understand how it feels to be overweight.......so go for it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

I could share all my head stuff but it would probably take a whole forum :D and it might only work for me !

Indeed, that has to be worth something ! I have been morbidly obese most of my adult life so I know all the pain and crap that goes with that :(

And because you are questioning yourself shows that you also have the ability to understand that others may occasionaly stray and need help to get back on track.

Go for it you will be fantastic

Hi Melissa,

You can see from the variety of responses that the verdict is that you will make a good CDC.

It is very comendable that you now what to share your success and to help others achieve their dreams of losing weight and getting to goal.

I know from your posts on here you have always be very helpful and supportive to others.

it is an exciting step forward in your diet journey and it goes to show how transformational and empowering losing weight is and you will bring these qualities to your clients.

When people say losing weight changes their lives it literally does as it does open up so many more oppurtunities for the future.

Me again! I know I know - I'm like a bus (don't post for ages, then suddenly reply several times in the same sitting!):blahblah:

All I say from your message, is like the others - you will be just fab hunny! Why do I know this? Easy-peasy! You've mentioned being overweight most of your life, right? You also mentioned being extremely disciplined doing CD, and having amazing results due to that willpower. But, what you haven't mentioned (which I'm assuming!) is that you've probably tried lots of the other diets out there, lost weight, put it back on, tried another diet, lost weight, put it back...... you get the jist!! So, basically you WILL be able to sympathise when your clients have bad days/weeks, fall off the wagon, etc - because you've been there too previously. It's still the same feelings of disapointment, frustration, anger, upset, annoyance! You've felt that before, so you just have to relate it to the previous diets that you've slipped up on. Clients will always have their opinions on you, whether you're slinky or chunky - they'll still find something to criticise if they want to! If they can't fault your appearance, they'll turn to your home/car/decor.....!!!!! All my clients are adorable, but hell knows what they say after they leave behind my back! Most of it nice thankfully! You'll be just fab! Don't worry! Just believe in yourself a bit more!;)

Thanks for your support Mini :)
I do want to help others do it because of the life changing aspect of it. I really believed that life couldn't be any other way for me. I think that was the problem, we tend to get what we believe ! I want others to see that isn't true too.:)

Yeah you're Lainey ! I have done EVERY diet known to mankind - or womankind. Done them, lost some, put it back on and more. I hadn't thought about this ! My head needed to be in a different place, I needed to think differently and LL helped me with that. Hopefully I can help others see that.:)
