Chicken Liver!

I am desperate to mak esyn-free chicken pate, but I cannot find chicken livers anywhere! Where do you guys buy it? I have tried Tesco & the Co-op, but no luck They only have ox or lamb.

In Tesco, you can get chicken liver by the fresh chicken, or you can get a frozen tup for 41p (or thereabouts) in the frozen meat section.

In Morrisons, I got frozen ones but couldn't find fresh.

have a tub in my fridge right now that is getting pate'd good and proper tomorrow

Most Morrisons have a fresh meat counter and butcher, i'm sure your butcher will help you out with the chicken livers if you want fresh not frozen xx

yes got mine from morrisons in the fresh meat aisle - 99p for a pack!

Tescos do them in the frozen section in a tub as Vixxster said.

I get them from Tesco when I can- mine used to do the frozen pots but stopped- they only have the fresh ones sporadically. I think they aren't as popular as other meats so it may depend on your particular branch if they stock them or not

Try one of the bigger stores if you still stuggle

Has anyone tried using other types of liver? I can get any type (pig's, lamb's, calf's etc.) quite easily and wondered if there would be much variation.

Calves liver is beautiful, lightly pan fried and served with mash, bacon and slow cooked onions. (salivating now)

Not tried it in pate though

I would try your local butcher if you can't find them in Tesco etc. I do tend to get meat from the butcher and if he doesn't have it in at the time he will get it in on the next order if at all possible.

pork liver makes ardennes pate... just leave out the butter and fat and substitute with yogurt! chop up some fresh cranberries and add after blending just before you set.
