Wii Fit Plus and a question.

Hey Guys, thought i'd tell you about this, as my husband bought it for me today, i must say its fab. I have the original one, which i really enjoyed. The new one uses all the data you collected in the first one and has all the same games on it, plus the new ones so you don't have to keep swapping discs.
The best thing imo is that after each activity, it gives you the amount of calories you have burned and counts them all up. I think you can create your own workouts, i only had a quick go on it, but i love it already. It's only £17 which for a wii game is great as they're usually much more then that.
My question is, how many calories should you burn daily to make a difference to weight loss?

Average person needs 3500 less calories per week to lose 1lb

Hi,

am so glad you have posted about the new fitplus as have been so tempted to get it myself, and have just been looking at reviews etc.

Thanks for the info. Will be off to get it when can get near shop that is selling it. xx

Wow i didn't realise that!

Hmmm, does anyone know how many calories you save when using points? Does say 20 points mean you only have certain calories like 1500 a day? etc

I have heard great things about wii fit, plus etc, I've got EA Sports and My Fitness Coach! Both very tiring and have me aching afterwards!

EA Sports is amazing! I burn about 600 calories in 3 workouts, I tend to do the proper 20 day challenge they set out which you burn on average about 180 calories per session, and then i do my own picked workout afterward for 15mins doing boxing and dancing to tone up my arms! and that burns about 120 :) really great fun, only about £25 in some places, definitely worth the money :)

I have ea sports too, but i've only used it once, mainly because its a bit hard going for me, i'm so unfit i feel like i'm dying and the leg strap doesn't fit, so i'm saving that one until i've lost some weight :D my husband enjoys it though

you can buy bigger leg straps off ebay :) but i know what you mean when i first started i jumped into the deep end straight on medium, i felt so bad after lol, in a good way of course! Soon went straight to easy, but then got into it, now back on medium and making my way to do hard mode! It is great fun, but like you say sometimes you feel like your dying especially with the running!

I'm a bit worried about my calorie intake at the moment, after hearing you need to lose on average 3500 a week to lose 1lb?? I have just counted up all my calories in which I've eaten up today, and it comes to approx 1000  and I've burnt off 300 of them on EA Sports... so I've only had 700 calories today?  :( - i know i want to lose weight, and I'm sticking to the points, but seriously no wonder I'm not shifting this weight if I'm only having so few calories a day? so confused! :(

Thanks for the tip about the leg strap, didn't think to look if they made bigger ones. Might have to give it another go. I no what you mean about the calories but i imagine (could be wrong) that if your bigger its different,

Just to add a bit - average female needs approx 1900 calories per day to maintain weight - 3500 less per week is 500 less per day so therefore that would be 1400 per day to lose 1lb.

Obv everyone is different and the maintain start calories are determined by height/age/activity levels/gender etc

The 3500 calories less per week is the same for everyone though - its just the daily allowance start amount that would differ.

Most healthy eating plans don't recommend eating less than 1100 ish per day anyway.

Hope I havnt confused it now he he

No idea sorry lol

I just tend to stick to my points allowance & then any exercise is a bonus lol

No problem! I know they do stronger resistance bands too! For those who put extra power into the moves lol, might have to get one, i find the one i have doesn't really do much, bit over stretched maybe lol oops!

Yeah i suppose it might be different due to overall weight hmmm have to look into it lol

Oh no, not at all! You've helped me a lot, I've been wondering why I'm getting low numbers, and STS, I know on average that's what people get, but maybe it's because i'm not eating enough calories wise to actually get the weight off lol Think i need to look for foods with more calories but low in sat fats! Thank you!

PS: what do you count fruit as in calories? I've never been able to figure it out, i know it's not much but might help a bit to put more calories on to the daily amount lol

Well, not too sure these days as just go by points but I do know an apple is approx 50calories !! - I had a little book once which I got from WH Smith which was a calorie counting guide - listed everything in there by weight/calories etc - might be worth investing in if calorie counting is your chosen weight loss route - the one I had actually explained how to work out the amount of calories required to maintain/lose etc & fat/carb/protein ratios etc

Ah great thank you! I will have to look out for that, I'm not usually concerned with the calories etc, but after actually counting them up i don't seem to be having many, which might sound good, but when concerning losing weight think i should be eating more really, otherwise it's just going to store everything as fat :( thank you! With fruit eaten today i might of managed about 1100 / 1200 calories after EA Sports, so hopefully be ok! thanks again

... forgot to add on my jacket potato i had earlier with tea! :) hehe that was about 140, and then there is my veg too will look into calories of those, every little helps! :D

Correct me if im wrong but i thought id read somewhere 100 cals = 1point

Really?!?

But if that's the case your GDA is 2000 for women, but if I'm on 24 points that would be 2400... i wouldn't be losing any? confused now

Morning..
sorry to confuse i think i got confused myself last night!!LOL

What i meant to say was i think around 100 cals burned through activity/exercise equates to around 1 point.
