the last 20 lb :-(

Hi there,

I recently started Slimming World after having lost 5 stone with Weight Watchers (DIY-Version) in the past. I am now 11st 6lb (5.5 ft) and find it incredibly hard to sustain on WW now so trying SW. However, I have reached a plateau and have been there for the last 2 years. I lost 4.5 lb in the first 4 weeks but gained 0.5 lb this week - I only had one naughty day. Oh, well... not sure if the diet works as the last 20 lb are always the hardest and I don't seem to get anywhere. Especially because I never weighed less at my current height which means I've been carrying this around for about 15 years (I am 26). So please help me guys!!!
I also started going to the gym as I need to be fit in May at my wedding :)

Sweet baba:rolleyes:

Yes I am going to the classes as I need the support now...
So I am trying everything!

Hey there! Um the only thing I can suggest is to make sure you do weights at the gym. Don't just do cardio. Cardio burns calories short term. But put 1lb of muscle on and it'll burn an extra 300cal a week (resting metabolism) - equal to a chocolate bar!. Don't worry about looking muscly, how many girls do you know that look really muscly? Not many and only those that take it to the extreme with weights. We have something like 10 to 30x less of the hormone that allows muscle building (testosterone), so we won't get too muscly. But putting a bit of muscle will not only tone you up but counteract the effects of metabolism slowing up because of all the dieting you've been doing.

Best to have a 50/50 mix of cardio and weights really.

Anyway hope that helps?

P.s. I'm with you on the last 20lb thing, I've got that as well. Well 16lb now. But anyway. This last lot of weight doesn't want to shift so easily!

Im in a similar position. Last 13lbs to go. Trying everything. Watching what I eat and exercising. I have been this weight for over 5 weeks now and its getting demotivating. Any ideas what I can try?

How do you fancy some email/text support and motivation?

Sophie louise, what a lovely name :) Sophie is one of my favourite names for girls (I'm not preggers by the way lol!) :)
