Need to exercise

I am desperate to start exercising but have no idea what are the best exercises to do. I really do not want to have loose skin and have heard that if i start to tackle it from the beginning of the diet then that will help me tremendously.

So can anybody please recommend what exercising to do to tone up. please

Ralph

I swim regularly and have done throughout LL. It does help toning considerably and is great for overall fitness. You do need to work out though, not just float about.

Really though, any exercise will help. I also find wii fit sessions are good and can be adapted to suit your time available and focus on different body areas.

Good luck. xx

HI Ralph

I started on LLLite and for the first 12 weeks, I exercised on my mini trampoline to a dvd workout perhaps 4 - 5 times a week for 30 mins per session(when feeling worthly:clap: - Didn't always do it though :break_diet:)

I certainly found that the more I exercised, the more my muscles and skin responded. I don't think that I could have done more than the 30 mins per session but for the sake of my skin, I would not have dieted without some form of exercise.

I have now finished maintenance but still try to go to the gym at least 3 times per week. My bingo wings have gone and everywhere else is feeling so much better by the day.

Both dieting and exercise go hand in hand with me but don't exhaust yourself.

Yes I agree - listen to your body and don't overdo things.

You need to put some effort in to swimming to get a toning benefit, but be aware you will have reduced energy and may feel dizzy and faint if you overdo things.

Thank you so much for the replies. What surprises me is nobody has mentioned walking. Is that because it is not as good at toning up the excess skin? Or what about sit ups?

Hey Ralph.

I walked (and still do), started with 20mins per day and increased over time until I was averaging 1 hr per day by the time I got into RTM.

No problems whatsoever, but do walk at a brisk pace. I don't think you can avoid saggy skin completely but I've been pretty lucky :)

Hi Ralph (hope you don't mind me intruding on your forum!)

I too was worried about loose skin as I am losing weight so quickly. I took some advice from a couple of friends, who are fittest trainers (One owns a gym)

I think Lighter Life is similar to LT. I was told to not do any cardio as I was not consuming enough calories, and there was a chance I could go into starvation mode, making my weight loss slow way down. I am also very active during my day, so cardio on top of normal day activities is too much.

I was told that brisk walking is great. Light free weights and static weights are excellent. Squats, big ball work on your abs, and balance/core exercises. I am also using a vibro plate, on which I do a series of exercises. I have now lost just over 6 stone and my skin is great. I'm not kidding myself though, I've a hell of a lot more to loss, so I'm bound to have some!

I've been told it can take up to 18 months for the skin to shrink back. I also use lots of moisturiser and bio oil, so it may also be helping. I use Palmers cocoa butter, St Ives toning cream, Palmers Virgin olive oil.
