LJ's daily thread

Ok, taking Auburn's lead I'm starting a daily counting thread to help me out for a little while. I'm aiming for 1600 calories per day at the moment, though I'm allowing two days a week of up to 2000 calories. So for today:

Breakfast: scrambled egg on W/W bread (toast): ~300
Snack: Snack-a-Jacks: 91
Lunch: ate out, lasagne so I'm saying ~900
Snack: Special K bar: 90
Tea: W/W chilli: 380

That lunch was a killer :D but since it was out of the ordinary I'm going to call it a naughty day, and I've come in under budget, even if I have a biccy with my tea.

Thanks Auburn! And you're right, it was nice to eat out, maybe more so because it wasn't planned either :D

So far today:

Breakfast: scrambled egg and W/W bread, toasted: 300
Snack: Weetabix oatybar: 67
Lunch: home-made tuna pasta bake dotted with light Philly (with chives): ~500

Might be having tagliatelle with philly, ham and mushrooms for dinner tonight, so I should have no problems coming in at 1600 calories for the day, even with a biscuit to dunk in my evening cuppa :D

Thanks LM, yeah it has been a bit of a pain; I've enjoyed the exercising up until the op. Oddly it was helping construct a greenhouse which brought it on, rather than working out!

Still, I can start some light exercise on Monday; just 1 mile jog broken up into 1/4 fast walk, 1/4 jog, 1/4 fast walk, 1/4 jog and build from there.

Another day, another post...

Breakfast: Tesco version of Special K made with fat-free yogurt instead of milk: 190
Lunch: about 100g roasted lamb, potato, leek, cabbage, butternut squash, small dash of gravy: ~480 plus 140 for some sorbet = ~620

Not too bad so far; about 810 calories. Probably looking at a chicken breast for dinner plus some veg, about 520 with a dash of sauce. Which gives me space for my biscuit with my cuppa tonight, and maybe a <100 cal snack this afternoon if I fancy it.

Hi LJ

As you have done so well so far do you tend to have any blow out days? I am at a healthy bmi now c. 23 and try and CC very strictly all week but I like a drink and good feed at a weekend. I could never be quite as strict as you all week - what helps to keep you motivated?

I am just asking this as I am getting married next year, my other half wants me to stop losing now but I am determined to get into a size 10 trousers, I am comfortably in size 12 at the mo on the bottom half and an 8/10 on top.

Thanks

x

Thanks kimber! As far as blow-out days go, I had a parmo last week (Parmo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) but if a takeaway is on the cards I usually have a chicken kebab with salad and chilli sauce; I can still join in but with about 10% of the lard :D

I stopped drinking two years ago when Mrs LJ became pregnant with our third child as a bit of support, and I never picked it up again when the baby was born. Mrs LJ likes it too because she knows she'll never have to drive if we go out any where lol. I stopped going to pubs ages ago anyway, I was sick of the trouble in the town and the local pubs round here are just dead so most drinking was done at home, or at friends and relatives houses. I'd always have a massive binge on race weekends though, the teams would always have a pissup after we'd put the race cars away on a Saturday...

Anyway, straying off the point :D I think I'd got in the mindset of not having a big feed from doing the Cambridge Diet, so I was coming up from a very small intake, rather than coming down from a large one if you see what I mean!

As far as motivation goes, I'm just really enjoying the 'new me' so far; I can do loads more with the kids and I feel great! But I've signed up for a local running challenge for 2010 with the PCT's from the area, so starting tomorrow I'll be back doing weights in the gym and on the street running now that I'm recovered after my emergency operation. I did an interview on local radio about my weight loss and the running project, so with things being so public I can't let myself fail now :D

There's other things too, like being able to shop at normal shops instead of High and Mighty. And I'm always getting compliments from the school-run-mums when I pick the kids up from school :D

Just a whole bunch of things are keeping me going. Like being able to walk past the scrotes who hang around the local shops safe in the knowledge I'm not going to get any verbal from them, and not getting funny looks when I'm out with the kids; before the diet I could feel people's disapproving looks: 'how dare that fat guy have kids, I bet they grow up just like him' etc. All that stuff, I miss none of the old stuff and although I've still got a bit of a spare tyre to remove there is *no way* I'm going back to my fat, unhealthy former self!

Your OH is saying to stop losing weight; has he said why?

Thanks for that Jim - really helpful, I think the OH is just being caring and he prefers curvier ladies, he doesnt like it that he can feel my hip bones. Although I know he is so proud of me for becoming a healthy, well excercised woman I think he just wants my boobs and bottom to keep there curves!

I am probably a couple of lbs lighter than when we met 3 years ago so can understand where he is coming from - it is really difficult the whole mind set of the weight loss thing. I am more of an all or nothing girl and worry that if I stop me rigid CCing in the week my old habits will slip back taking me back up 3 stones!

I am losing at a very slow rate now anyway but am toning more from my excercise so think I am going to stick at it until at lease christmas and then go from there!

Well done on all your hard work LJ, I complete agree with your new me comments and hopefully never want to go back to the unhealthy non excercising me!

We're blokes, we like boobs and bums, it's just the way we're made :D

Thanks kimber, you're right: never again...

Just to round the calorie log off for the day, I totalled out at ~1560 for the day, with a Go Ahead bar this afternoon, dinner as mentioned and a biscuit with my cuppa just now...

Today's intake :D

Breakfast: Special K and yogurt again: 190
Lunch: sandwich and a chocolate bar! on the hoof ~660
Snack: special K fruit bar: 90
Dinner: pasta bolognaise (low fat mince and sauce): ~600

Tuesday's menu:

Breakfast: scambled egg with W/W toast and chilli flakes: ~300
Lunch: tomato and cheese pasta bake: 375

Might have a fat-free yogurt this afternoon (75 cals), then off to my mother's later for dinner: probably chicken and veg, possibly 700 calories there, so I've space for a Go-ahead bar with my cup of tea this evening.

Wednesday:

Breakfast: special K with fat free yogurt: 190 (can you see a pattern lol)
Snack: special K bar: 90
Lunch: 4xRyvita with light Philly and ham: ~450
Snack: special K bar: 90 (was in the office...)
Dinner: pasta with ham, cucumber, sweetcorn, red pepper and extra light mayo: ~550

Then 2xdigestive biscuits with my evening cup of tea

Ran 1 mile today, too :D

Like the special K uh? :D

The special K mini bites are very nice :) 99 cals a bag

If I can make a suggestion? Maybe a little more protein. Protein is the most important macronutrient when dieting.

Yeah, that does make sense. I've introduced eggs for breakfast to try and up the protein but I err... ran out and forgot to get some more at the shop. I've half a dozen in my fridge now though :D

But your right, need more chicken and quorn; I ate plenty of that while on CD so I should know better really.

Not tried those mini break things, might have to get a couple of bags. My local shop sells the bars singly so they were handy to grab today on my way to the office. The Bliss bars are yummy

Hey Lunar Jim

I have seen quite a few of your threads/posts but thought i should really start commenting. I have just started a 1500 ish cal a day diet messed up a little today tho, my prob is when it comes to snacky things, in my case atm bags of butterkist popcorn, unlike some people where they will have a little bit of the thing they love, im best off cutting it out completely otherwise i binge! So today i think i prob had at least 2000 cals but to make myself feel better i remember that 2 days ago i had about 500 cals as had no appetite at all due to stress! So back to it tomorrow!!

Anyways enough about me, this is your thread so i thought i would let you know that you are doing excellent altho you probably already know that!! The difference between your before and after pic is amazing, you look like a different guy!!

Might have to take some tips from your diary and feel free to pick through mine if you like (link on my siggy)

Anyways well done so far and good luck with the rest

Thanks Angel! Yeah, I keep looking at the kids' snacky stuff in the house... Butterkist is yummy but all that toffee on, scary calories probably lol  I know what you mean though, I could never just have a couple of bits out of a packet and put the packet away; I'd always have to scoff the whole lot, and when you look at say a packet of Haribo having 350 cals in them, it's not good. I must have been on 3500, 4000 calories a day before the diet, but I wouldn't know as I never even thought about that stuff...

Anyway; you're 5 stone down, that's really good! :D

Actually the little bags of BK are i think 125cals so its not too bad as i tend to have arounf 300kc for brekkie, 400kc for lunch and 500kc for dinner so im left with 3-400kc to play with.

Just a thought though, when it comes to tea coffee etc do you count the calories in them, ignore them, or just say well il use about 50/100whatever cals and note that down??

And as far as being on 3500-4000 cals, I was eating 3500 cals on SW and obviously wasnt losing weight, I told my SWC and she told me i wasnt eating ENOUGH cals and wanted me to up it ALOT!!! Well needless to say I think she was doing it on purpose in the end because if you have read one of my rants on here you will see a convo between me and her with her threatening and insulting me. Well I should have gone back tonight but am i b*uggery!

And yeah Iv now lost nearly 5st which is great but I just wish I could see it myself its frustrating :(

Good luck xxx
