Buying scan bran outside of group

Someone told me recently that you can buy scan bran from Holland and Barratt but I cant find it on ther website - are they wrong?

What is scan bran?

A very hard core wheat/rye style crispbread may liken to cardboard. others love it tho' . you can make cakes and many other things with it.

I also read somewhere that you can substitute Ryvita for Scan Bran in recipes although I haven't put that to the test yet.

Scan Bran is rumoured to help weight loss and I have certainly found that I have a weight loss if I include it in my diet.

It's not that great tasting on it's own, it's quite difficult to chew because of the fibre content. However, it's lovely with sliced banana on top and you can put whatever you like on top.

I have also used it to make Scan Bran and Banana cake which comes out looking and tasting a bit like bread pudding.

Really easy to make - just break the SB up to resemble breadcrumbs (I bash it with a rolling pin in a bag!), then beat 2/3 eggs in a bowl, mash in 3/4 bananas, add some mixed spice and a tsp of baking powder. If you want a smooth consistency you can put it all in a food processor and blend it but this is not necessary. Spray a loaf tin with Fry Light and put the mixture in, pop in oven on medium heat (around Gas 4/5) for about 30 mins or until the top is brown and the cake looks set.
