Does anyone knows if these tablets helps or not?I bought them today in Superdrug for £3.17 and it says it helps relieve water retention and maintain a normal body fluid balance.

Lipotrim acts like a diuretic as a reduced calorie intake brings about a natural water-loss effect, which can also occur with diuretics.

Diuretics (water tablets) are frequently used for the treatment of mild to moderate high blood pressure (hypertension). It is advisable for the doctor to stop a customer's diuretic medicating before the Cambridge Diet is begun.

The effect of the two together would not only cause too much water to be lost with the risk of dehydration, but more importantly - the loss of an important body salt, potassium.

Potassium - an electrolyte - stimulates muscle action, and to much loss could affect the heart.

When prescribing diuretics doctors usually monitor a patients potassium levels or prescribe potassium sparing medication.

Taken from Dr. Alan N Howard's book, 29th anniversary edition The Cambridge Diet.

Both Cambridge Diet and Lipotrim are Total food replacement diets and the advice is the same for both.
