I was on CD & doing pretty well & still had a couple of stone to lose before i would feel good. Anyway i had to come off of CD immediately for personal reasons about 5wks ago so didn't go up the plans. In all honesty i've been feeling low & have been eating absoulte rubbish

I just weighed myself & OMG i've out on nearly 1.5 stones
Can barely fit into my trousers & its getting me down. Anyway i can't go back onto SS yet as i'm taking some herbal stuff which is alcohol based so i imagine i wouldn't get back into ketosis.

What is the lowest plan i can start back on where i'm not in ketosis? I have a few weeks worth of shakes & bars so i can restart tomorrow. I'm just unsure what kinda plan to go onto & what kind of evening meals to have & how much to eat in the evenings. I'm veggie so eat lots of quorn things.

What sort of weight loss could i expect on a higher plan? Baring in mind i normally only lost about 2-3lbs a week on SS :(

I need to sort myself out right now before i get myself to a place i don't want to be at again.

Thanks :D

I know I cannot help you but wanted to say good luck with it and hope you lose the put on weight quickly xx

You'd be best to get to your cdc to see what plan you can start on.
You must nip this in the bud now though and it sounds like you have the determination, very very good luck and keep popping in and let us know how you are getting on.
That weight will be off in a matter of weeks, please don't worry about it, you are doing the right thing by addressing it now.

What's the 'herbal stuff' and how much of it are you taking, if that's not too personal a question?

Getting into ketosis when you're consuming alcohol isn't the problem - there're no carbs in alcohol - it's just that it can be dangerous to drink alcohol when you're on CD. But I can't imagine you're having a lot, are you? If you're talking tiny amounts of alcohol, such as the amounts you get in Bach flower remedies, for example, then in my humble opinion, I think you'd be alright on Sole Source.

False Unicorn Root

False unicorn root is what i'm using.
I'm using about 10ml twice a day diluted in water.
I wonder then if i could use it & 'try' and get into ketosis?
I need to do something asap & sort my head out in the process.
I suffer from recurrent miscarriages & that was why i had to come off straight away but i miscarried again. I'm trying the herbal route to try & strengthen my womb..... i have to try something as nothing the hospital is suggesting is working.

Thank you

Oh Daisy, you poor darling. {{{hugs}}} I'm so sorry that that keeps happening to you. :(

Okay, well, it sounds to me that it'd probably be alright for you to be in ketosis. That sounds like it'd be a tiddly amount of alcohol - not enough to be a problem, I'd say - though it wouldn't hurt to check with your CDC.

And you're right - dealing with your weight is something positive you can do right now. The good news is that quite a lot of that regained weight is just going to be water - and a week on CD will shift quite a bit of it.

Sending you loads of hugs and positive vibes, hun. :hug99:

I'm so sorry to hear that Daisy. From a completely non medical non expert opinion, I don't know if CD is the best option for you? I mean, surely you need all kinds of nutrients and vitamins that you don't get on CD? I mean, I'm all for the CD but surely your health is more important?

I just googled the best supplements for miscarriages and this website Miscarriage says:

The supplements recommended below have been studied in clinical trials and have been found to be effective in connection with miscarriages. For best results you should take them over a period of three months, at the end of which you should be reassessed in order to monitor improvements and changes and then adjust the supplement programme according to your new condition. Multivitamin and Mineral
A good quality multivitamin and mineral would form the foundation of your supplement programme to make sure that you are getting a 'little bit of everything'. You then add in those nutrients in slightly higher amounts which are known to be helpful in preventing miscarriages.

Folic Acid
Any woman trying to become pregnant now knows about the importance of folic acid, which has been proven to prevent spina bifida. What you may not know is that it is extremely important for women who experience miscarriage.

Research into heart disease suggests that folic acid and vitamin B12 might be beneficial in controlling an amino acid called homocysteine that is found in the blood. In high quantities, homocysteine causes damage to the lining of the blood vessels. Interestingly, high levels of homocysteine have also been found in women who experience recurrent miscarriages. It is, therefore, important that both folic acid and vitamin B12 form a part of your supplement plan.
Vitamin E
Aspirin and heparin are given to women who have blood clotting antibodies in order to thin the blood. Another possibility - and certainly the natural alternative - is to take vitamin E. This vitamin can help thin the blood and prevent clots. A study published in the Lancet in 1996 found that taking a daily dose of vitamin E reduced the risk of having a heart attack by an astonishing 75 percent. The scientists heading this study commented that the results were even more 'exciting than aspirin'.

Zinc
Zinc is an essential component of genetic material and a zinc deficiency can cause chromosome changes in both partners, leading to an increased risk of miscarriage. Zinc is found in high concentrations in the sperm, and adequate levels are needed to make the outer layer and tail. It's fairly obvious that it is a crucial nutrient for healthy sperm.

What's more, zinc plays a vital role in normal cell division, so it is particularly important that adequate levels are available at the time of conception in order to prevent a miscarriage.
Selenium
Researchers have found that women who miscarry have low levels of selenium in their blood compared to women who don't miscarry. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant and it can prevent chromosome breakage and DNA damage, which are known to be a cause of miscarriages and birth defects.

Selenium is also needed for healthy sperm formation, so I strongly suggest that your partner supplements with selenium if the semen analysis shows a high percentage of abnormal sperm. As an antioxidant, selenium can also protect against possible DNA damage to sperm.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)
Essential fatty acids produce beneficial prostaglandins which can reduce abnormal blood clotting. In order to make sure that you are not deficient in these fatty acids it is preferable to take them in supplement form over the four-months preconception period and during the pregnancy itself. I would recommend linseed (flaxseed) oil or fish oil capsules to help reduce any abnormal blood clotting.

And for eg. we don't have essential fatty acids on CD.

If I were you, I would create a lower calorie diet that contains these minerals and vitamins as well as taking supplements.

But that's just my advuse and ignore me if you want to but its always good to hear other options, no?

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
