Christmas - how do you get through it ???

Folks - what's everyone's plans for Christmas. Are you sticking to TFR or are people refeeding end of November?? As I sais before my friend and I are doing TFR together and she is pushing for both of us to stay on it all through Christmas. Deep down I know that this would be too hard for me - even if I could have 2 shakes and a healthy meal for the 12 days of Xmas I'd be happy. But is this cheating?? Sorry I'm full of questions and have no clue what to do. I don't want to mess this diet up though as it's the best thing that's happened to me.

That's a tough one. We all think of xmas as having lots of yummy food to eat. I did a refeed last year and got straight back on it the following week. I soon shifted the gain. But we are all different and you need to know whether you can be determined to go back to it. It is so much harder when you eat. I certainly dont recommend jumping on and off it. Try and stay focussed and just think there will be lots of other christmases that you can eat. Good luck on your decision:)

think of it like this; you will have plenty!!!!! more christmases to be able to eat and be merry etc and spending one without food and drink is a small price to pay to being thin and healthy.

i'll be finishing on nov 30th. not because of xmas though. i'll be at goal by then, woohoo. think if it was me, id eat on xmas and boxing day and get back to the shakes. a lot of people on here found it really hard after having a break, i had a 1 day break and got back to it. didnt feel any difference.
up 2 u hun, healthy eating is always a good option if u wana eat.

Well personally I think I would have a miserable xmas if I carried on TFR! i am aiming to lose as much as poss before then then will have 2 weeks off to enjoy my favourite time of year! I just know that i will feel 100 times better than i wouldve done if i hadnt started LT and if i put on a bit then so what? I will lose it again when i go back on LT in Jan, and i am determined to go back on x

Fingers crossed i'll be at goal by November. But i know if it was me i would deffo come off TFR for xmas. Maybe refeed for a wk before it, eat sensible then from Xmas eve to the 1st January and then start back on TFR. I know it wouldnt be worth it staying on it as i would be miserble and peed off. To those who can do it, fair play. I have so much respect for you! :) x

But christmas isnt about the food and drink, its about the people and company you spend it with.

To any of us on LT surely however many weeks we have done/are doing we have surely realised that there is more to life than food and drink?

I know for some its hard to be able to socialise without and i respect that but just bare in mind that you might find it difficult to jump straight back on LT and you might find it very disheartening to see you have put on weight (if any).

Come on! We CAN celebrate Christmas and have a lovely time without food. Having a lovely time WITH food got most of us into a mess, which is why we're doing LT to start with. There's no way I'm undoing all my hard work for the sake of a turkey dinner. I know it will be hard, but surely not as hard as starting LT to begin with.

Let's be strong together!!!

I'll be finished quite a bit before Christmas, so it's not an issue for me, but, I do think that your feelings about LT change the longer you're on it, until after the third week the prospect of doing it for any significant length of time filled me with dread, but now there's really very little that would force me off LT before reaching my goal. When it gets closer to the time think about it again & re-feed if you think that it'll be too tough over Christmas. I think personally I'd stay on LT over Christmas, in reality there's only one day where the food is the focus, right? & losing the weight I've been trying to shift for so many years is much more important than that, especially as I could still enjoy my family without the food.

Hi Angela, I decided i would break my 6 stone loss into two sessions. Hopefully i will have my first 3 and a bit off for Dec. I will refeed then because i know we will have lots of occasions that i want to join in with. I know i will feel amazing as i'm feeling great having just lost almost a stone and half...i won't be going ma by any stretch of the imagination. Then first week of Jan i'll be back to the chemist to get the rest off before the nice weather comes. Everyone has there own ideas but you know in your heart of hearts what is right for you huni...it's your life !! xx

Slimmer2moro, I agree with you, its better to split it if that's whats right for you. one thing i've learnt is that we are all different, and we should listen to our own bodies. I have great respect for people carrying on during xmas, I am personally coming off for xmas, but not for the food, its because i have a lot of family weddings and because i would like a drink over the festive season. Good luck for everyone!

I know what your saying and no it wont be easy to get back onto LT but it wasnt easy to start this time but i did it.
To me personally xmas is a lot to do with food and drink and will be socialising a lot so im going to enjoy it! I will just be so much happier with loosing whatever I lose up until then and can cope with gaining a bit of temporary weight cos its still much better than what i would've been hadnt i started LT. Thats just how I see it anyway but each to their own! x:D

Yep - it will still be better than where you started bailey but just dont take your foot off the pedal! Dont just think cuz its christmas i can have this and that as in the long run isnt thinking like that how we all ended up where we were before we started our LT journeys?

It might be a good experience for those of you who are taking a break of christmas to really learn how you are going to cope with special occasions once of LT for good.

But its really going to get you nowhere thinking that cuz you are going back on LT you can slack off a bit! Retraining our thoughts surrounding food is the hardest part of this diet and imho those taking a break, whilst they may not put on weight they may mess up all the hard work they have done 'thinking' about food whilst on tfr. .... if that makes sense?! lol

We also need to excersise when off LT, you need to be buring calories as I find that is the key to it all and it certainly keeps the weight off too.. if you just eat and dont excersise you will stay the same or start putting on weight gradually.... so plenty of walks and drinking water :) That is how I put on weight in first place, was not doing any sport anymore or excersise at all as I don't think I over eat as such, never have and dont have sweet tooth thank god but the lack of excerise and working all the time slowly let the weight creep on...

good luck to everyone on what you decide and have a good xmas :):):) I cant wait now :):):)

Summergurl you are absolutely right, I do intend to use my break off LT to try to learn to eat healthy. I still intend to visit the pharmacist at every week during my month off, I certainly don't want to undo the work i've done. I think it will be a learning curve for me. For me its not a case of the quantity, its more the contents of what I eat that are most damaging, so I intend to refeed for 2 weeks and then eat healthy, try and stay off the carbs, and go to the gym every 2-3 days, lots of walking and general excercise. I don't want to go all the way to target and come off to realise that i didn't really learn a thing.

THanks a million u lovely lovely ladies - this is what i love about this site to be able to get advice and support . Think I'm gonna stick with it through xmas - as someone said I have plenty of festivities after i hit goal to enjoy myself and be healthy and look good ! Thank u my hunni's x x x x x

Usually - With copious amounts of alcohol!

I'm really looking forward to Christmas on LT. I know I will feel amazing and so proud of myself being on it. I'll have so many more Christmases to indulge in a bit of the booze and food when I'm a healthy weight.

I've worked my boobies off to lose the weight I've lost so far, and I sure as hell aint coming off LT for a load of spuds, turkey, sprouts and booze. Amen Sisters, let's stay on the festive LT train until goal station! (God I'm cheesy)
