Doesn't bode well for maintenance

Brightonrosie

I want to be fitter again
This week I had two meals off plan and I put on 3lbs!! It worries me that when I reach target one slight change of diet in the week and loads goes back on. I have been only loosing half a pound a week and the thought of another 6 weeks until I get back to my weight befoe the meals is disheartening. Some people at my group often have a take away or fish and chips each week and still manage to loose. Feeling glum this evening Not like me. I am normally upbeat xx

Hey Brightonrosie,

I too am the same as you and have to stick to plan as much as possible. Im not one of the lucky ones who can have a sneaky portion of chips or eat out on a regular basis because i WILL put on.

In terms of maintainance, you do have 3lbs either side of your target so if you do put on a bit after going a little off plan you will still stay within your target range.

When i get to target im planning to treat myself to a meal out once a month so i dont feel deprived and this will allow me the rest of the month to get back down to target it i put a couple of pounds on as a result of my monthly treat.

Good luck, im sure if you stick to it 100% for the next week you will get some of the 3lbs off that you gained :)

I haven't looked (hangs head in shame) but have you posted a diary Rosie? I will go and look. If you haven't then perhaps you could and we could look at it for you and see if we could tweak things. 3lbs seems an awful lot, thats 10,500 cals extra! you couldn't have eaten that! Are your hormones up the spout?

I often think this depends on the person, im aware that 1lb of weight gain is roughly 3500 extra calories but ive often been 100% all week, eaten maybe 20 syns over my allowance and put on 2lb!

Maybe for me its an extra 350 calories for a 1lb gain :p

It might be that you think you're following the plan 100%, and you actually not!

It's not the first time we've seen it, and it won't be the last! If you post a diary, we can have a nosy and see if there's anything to suggest. Do you go to classes?

You always express things so well, I know that it's disappointing to put on weight and I can relate to where you say it's going to take 6 weeks to get back to where you were. Hopefully it'll be off much quicker than that.

I particularly remember when you said, on the thread about keeping weight off, that everyone will go off plan sometimes and it's how we deal with it is going to make the difference.
I wish there was a magic wand that could keep us upbeat when the weight loss isn't going too well, but I'll just send you positive vibes and hope that you feel a bit happier today xx

Sorry to hear that! :( What sort out food did you eat when you were off plan? I had a few things off plan a couple weeks ago (BREAD! lots of it) and gained 9lbs! But within a couple days it was down to 4lbs and by WI it was gone, sometimes it is also the type of food and it may not be a true reflection of your gain. Water retention? As Judi said, hormones?

xx

I have been doing the plan 100% and my sw consultant used one of my diaries as an example of a good diet.
The meal out was an asian buffet so Chinese, sushi, curries etc I used a small plate and did treat myself to some tempura, mini ribs etc and two very small desserts. the next day i had a half a chocolate muffin. Other than these two times I never go above my syn allowance .My point is that I only went off plan for this time. What I need to do is wait a whole week after eating this to get a true picture of my weight. (food was eaten on a Saturday and weigh in was Wednesday ) I will keep my head high and hope for better next week xx
