Lighter Life V Cambridge?

Hi,

Wonder if anyone could tell me what the main differences are between LL and Cambridge.

Need to kick start diet again, and after trying Slimming World, am thinking of trying Cambridge, since think may suit me better - did try once but did not find Counsellor that great.

All advice appreciate.

The main difference would be with Lighter Life you do CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)this link will help further to explain what it is.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The taste of Lighter Life is very similar to CD and the weight loss is the same.

A lot of people find CBT is the key to maintaining weight loss long term.

Hi, sphinx,

well i have done LL for 4 weeks and lost 13lbs, 7lbs in the first week.
My counceller is lovely, but i just feel like i am personally not benefitting from the sessions as i don't relate to a lot of the issues they talk about, i think maybe if ur interested in the counselling, try it for a few weeks and see how you get on.......if you don't like it then you can just leave and switch over to Cambridge, i have just done exactly that, my cambridge counceller is so nice too, i;ve been luck as i hear some can be harsh and strict on rules etc.

Anyway the main difference as Mini said is the cognitive behaviou therapy but another HUGE difference is PRICE.

You pay £66 per week on LL for 28 foodpacks (4perday) and you have an hour n half counselling session in a small group.

on Cambridge the price varies but it is absically HALF PRICE. for example i pay £34.50 for a weeks worth of foodpacks (21 packs) which is three a day. Some people charge seperatly but it normally works out the same price.

I have seen that some cambride counsellers aren't supportive etc but my one is lovely, i see her in her salon which is attached to her house and we had a little 15minute chat and she weighed me etc.

Maybe you should give both LL and Cambridge a call get some councellers details call them and see if they can sell their product to you.

SO really it depends on your budget and whether you have real issues with controlling what you eat and training your brain not to want and need bad things. If you have control and pyschological issues with food then Lighter Life is probably a better option for now.

Plus group sessions are good for some people, its your personality type too and whether your open to discuss your issues aloud.

Hope that was some kind of help xXx

I've done both... I lost almost 3 stone on CD, and now have been on LL for 2 weeks.

LL is more expensive. You can look at this in one of two ways... for me, I'm not going to pay 66.00 a week to mess around. Cambridge... well different councellors operate in different ways. Mine charged more for bars and pre-made drinks, so I was paying nearer 50.00 anyway.

On LL you have 4 foodpacks a day instead of three (unless your male or over 5''7)... which *personally* I find much easier, though someone less lazy would think about splitting them. I think your daily intake is about the same though. Cambridge have more flavours, but I've found LL to be less lumpy. I guess its personal choice though. Also cambridge do pre-mixed drinks which LL dont.

The sessions themselves... I found i'm looking forward to going to my LL sessions. Getting to know the group, swapping stories and things like we do here on minimins. I find that more of a reason to go than trecking over for a quick 5 minute weigh, get packs. But some people may prefer it.

Also the fact you have the 'foundation stage' I think is really great (on LL)... It gives you a specific time frame - which for me really helps thinking I'll be on foundation until mid-december. In my mind it says 'this is what im doing until then, after that i'll make the next decision' instead of my usual thoughts of i'm not going to last for six months - I might as well get that cheeseburger now!'

CBT... probably more experienced LLers can tell you more!
