I don't know whats wrong- if anything?

IrishMum

A little of everything!
WARNING- Quite explicit/gross period(?)post- if you're sensitive don't read any further?!

Yesterday I woke up and had terrible pains in my lower back. The only way I can describe it is like a really bad constipation pain? Or a little like the back contractions I had when I was induced for my last baby? It didn't ease after I used the bathroom (sorry if tmi?) and even painkillers and a hot water bottle didn't help. It got so bad at one stage I really was tempted to call the out-of-hours clinic for advice- all sorts of scenarios was going through my head- worse-case being bowel cancer!
Anyway, it eased a little after the second dose of painkillers and I had an early night. I think I was so alarmed because I have a pretty high pain threshold, and this was bad.
This morning when I went to the bathroom I discovered quite a lot of blood. Dark red and 'gloopy'? I have quite bad 'crampy' pains at the minute, but no 'back' pain? I'm still bleeding, not an 'awful' lot, but enough to have changed the pad once already? I'm on the pill (cerazette)- and I don't have bleeds/periods on this pill (since my baby- now 2) so this is really out of the ordinary? It shouldn't be because of LT I don't think, as nothing like this happened the last time I was on it, and I've only been back on it for a week?

Is it a period- my hormones could be out of whack a little after losing the weight- but why is this only happening now, over 3mths from I lost it? Or could it be something more sinister?:(

I'm off to fill a hot water bottle.
(sorry for the moaning thread...feeling a littel sorry for myself...)

UPDATE: Bleeding stopped. Still crampy...

I imagine it's just a bad period, I've had ones like that. But if it's worrying you and out of the ordinary for you then probably best to see your doc or call NHS Direct to help put your mind at rest. Hope it's all eased now.
x

I know you said you were on the pill but is their any possibility you could of been pregnant? When i suffered a miscarraige my symptoms were the same as yours, sorry i could be completely wrong, just wanted to offer my advice.Perhaps even make a appointment with your gp just to be on the safe side. Take Care

I'd hate to say its most probably this or that but it does sound like a very bad period.

I know when i had my first one for about 3 years it was very bad.

But irish if you are worried go to the doc and get it checked out just to be on the safe side :)

Islandbreeze- I haven't had a period/bleed in years while on this pill- it used to cost me a fortune in pg tests!

Silvalady- It's a possibility? I know the pill isn't 100% foolproof. I'm a week into a new packet so any bleed 'should've' come before now going on past experience with pills where I had a 'bleed'? I have no knowledge/experience of mc (thank God) so wouldn't know what to expect. I guess thats what I'm afraid it is really? I hadn't been planning any more kids, but it wouldn't be an 'unwelcome' pg iykwim? We'd manage, and probably be delighted after the initial shock.

Tanya & Jenny- you could be right too- as I haven't bled in so long, a really bad period might put me through this? God- I couldn't cope with it every month though?! It really knocked me for six yesterday!

I'll not panic too much, I've stopped bleeding (just a little when I wipe?) and am still a little crampy. It could be just a 'surprise' period after all? Hmm....

Thanks for your input Ladies. I appreciate the advice.

hiya hun,

i'm on cerazette too so have got very used to no bleeding but lipotrim has given me the odd surprise - how lovely of it. the first one was like you describe (although i didnt suffer with the terrible pain) but the bleed sounds very similar.

maybe check with NHS direct or docs if you're worried tho xx

Really Sarahlou? Thats actually reassuring.
Though you didn't have the pain, and thats what scared me most? Even when I was having bleeds/periods I had cramps, but they were nothing like this?
Maybe there was a 'toilet' issue going on yesterday after all, or it was just 'my' version of a cerazette period! Not pleasant...

I have had periods like this in the past especially after not having them for a while and if i didnt have a period in my 7 day break i wud usually have one day of torture then the period wud all but disappear however if you are still a little apprehensive i wud talk to your gp as its always better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Anne-Marie. It's eased today, and the bleeding has all but stopped, so I'll not panic too much. If the pain or bleeding returns I'll make an app. with my GP to get it checked.

Thanks so much everyone- you've helped ease my mind!

ahh how you feeling now? hope your feeling better, maybe pop the doctor this week anyhow for a check up :) hope your ok x

Meet your Sister. I am having the periods from hell while on LT. Labour pain was easier, not joking. I too have an extremely high pain threshold (3 babies, no pain relief) The clots are massive and the blood! It flows out. I think I need a pee and I go and it's only blood. Never had anything like this, it's agony. I also took painkillers but they just dulled the pain, they did not take it away completely.

I have the Mirena coil. My periods were all over the show before LT, and very light, although sometimes they lasted for ages. Since I've been on LT they're been regular as clockwork, heavy, so painful and last about 5 days. In a way I was glad as I'm getting a really good clear out, as I've had to have a couple of D&Cs. Sorry for the TMI but you're not alone. The clots frightened me at first as they wouldn't flush down the toilet with the first flush yuck!

I was told you weren't allowed have a coil in on lipotrim maybe im remembering it wrong it was one of the health questions?????

Your grand babes glad my experience has helped you! I hope i never experience it again so i know how horrible it is!

Thats exactly what happened!! I had little/no bleeding all day yesterday, but was still crampy so dosed up on paracetemol & had another early night with my hot water bottle. This morning I got up- went to the loo, and it was like armageddon!!! Far worse than yesterday morning?!
Call me loony if you like- but I did a pg test to put my mind at ease & it came back negative, so I guess I really am having the weirdest period from hell??
If this is what periods are going to be like from now on you can keep them!!!:sigh:
The bleeding has again eased off so it appears to 'pool' overnight when I'm lying down? Not pleasant. My bathroom looked like I'd cut my throat or something!!
((Sorry again if this is all tmi!!))

My weight is all over the place. I'm up 3lbs this morning. I guess I'll have to resign this week to the 'bin' and hope for better next week? Arghhhh!!!! I only have a week and a half shakes (roughly) left!!
What a time to have a hormonal explosion!!:sigh::cry::wave_cry:

I guess its gonna be like dat til your period from hell stops. I wudnt take it as your actual weight hun. your right just forget about this weeks weight and move on to next week. The period cant last forever!

I hope not- at this rate I'll be anaemic!! LOL! It's eased off a lot now like yesterday. Never mind- I'll stick at my shakes and hope it'll all pay off next week when (hopefully!) things will be back to normal?
Thanks for the reassurance.
