The taller you are the more you lose?

Hey guys

Ive noticed that if your above 5'7 people tend to lose about 4/5 pounds a week
But if your shorter its about 2/3 pounds.

Im just wondering why that is? Just cant figure out why that happens!

Em doubt it i wud say its the more you need to lose the more you lose everyweek but this isnt always true our bodies are all different and they work at different rates. working out a formula for weight loss is prob impossible as there are so many variables.

yeah i agree with anne-marie, people with less to lose generally lose it slower. however i dont think ive got alot to lose (21lbs till healthy bmi) in my first 3 wks lost, 14lbs, 5lbs & 4lbs. last week only lost 2lbs due to having a day off where i ate loads. can tell ive lost this week again so hoping for 4lbs.

Yeah Jenny i noticed dat with you actually thought your weight losses were incredible. I tink it may have something to do with the amount of fat maybe or just type of body as nobody believed me wen i told them wat weight i was before this. thats wat i mean about variables with weight loss its so hard to judge and i started feeling bad about my loses wen seeing how people my height were losing more but there's no point in dat!

I think it's more like the more fat you have the faster you lose it. I'm not trying to sound rude or anything, but there was one lady on here you who quite heavy and her weight losses were amazing! losing around 7-10 most weeks, but it also depends on the person too. If you usually lose weight slowly, then you probably will no matter what diet you do. Like me, sooner or later, my weight losses will slow down a lot! lol.

Thanks, I'm on TOTM though, so I'm most likely going to have a weight loss of 1lb, or might STS. But I know what it is so, it's all cool. You're weight losses are amazing too!

I want to ask about working out and stuff. What kind do you do and do your weight losses improve, reduce or is there so difference? I would love to tone up this time round, but I don't want to be on LT longer than the 6 months I was on last year.

lol yasmine, dont think any1 will think ur being rude hun. reason we're on lt is to get rid of the horrible fat :)

LOL I know, but as we all know, people who have had a weight problem are very sensitive about the issue. So I try to be as subtle as I can, don't want to hurt anyone on here since they are all so lovely

i swim about 3 times a week, make sure i get my 10,000 steps in every day. go gym usually 3 times a week. at the gym i do 20-30 mins cardio, mainly rower and cross trainer. 20mins on resistance machines and around 10mins free weights. i use 2 be a gym instructor so love working out. i feel very toned now. not sure if it is helping me lose quicker or not as been exercising since first wk on LT. not done much this week as had a lot on so will see if theres much difference on mondays wi.
when u do strength training (weights & resistance) ur gaining muscle. so might lose more this week as no extra muscle for me.
gonna get back into my rountine on mon after wi.

Wow, sounds good. So with muscle gain, obviously the scales will show a weight gain? but not a bad one, a mucsle one right?

i can do 20 minutes on treadmill and would do about 2.4km in that time roughly , how much does someone do on treadmill in that time usually??? i can do 15 on rower a few weight machines but i can not do cross trainer at all... not even 5 mins haha my friend can go on it for half hour and not even break a sweat haha

Interesting theory but to be honest I wouldn't try finding rhyme or reason in the magical world of LT. Patterns don't truly exist, I don't think - and it leads to comparison with others which is often likely to disappoint someone somewhere along the line.

We all lose at different rates, but we can all get to goal in the end :)

agree we lose at different weights, don't think there's a height theory. I'm all of 5ft 1 and have lost 20lb in 3 weeks, not bad for a short fat git lol!!

Lol i'm only 5' tall and my weekly losses vary quite a lot too. i usually go to the gym twice a week, but i haven't been this week, so will be interesting to see what loss i get next week!!

i'm rubbish at science but one thing i know is i'm very short and losing quite a bit

I think the bigger you are the more you lose. It is the same as being tall. I am short and did not have much to lose, that is why at week two my loses were small.

Erm...I don't think so! I think people with more to lose do probably lose more. Also, there are various things to consider - metabolism, age, etc. I think my losses have probably been relatively good because I'm young.

Don't you go depressing all the shorties ;-)

haha!!
i so wish this was true.
i'm 6ft and had loads to lose but still had relatively small losses compared to some shorter, lighter people.
think our bodies just lose what it wants to and there's not much you can do to change that x
