What is about nurses??

Brightonrosie

I want to be fitter again
Why is it there are so many of us on here who are nurses and overweight? I blame it on our training days when we had shifts without breaks so grabbed food when we could and also only what we could affford. Do we ever learn to look after ourselves ? just a thought xx

Too many missed breaks and eating on the 'hoof' which was usually something very quick and not very healthy (like a sandwich, do-nut, choc bar etc) - plus as I worked on a very busy surgical ward with a very quick turnover of patients (we had 7 Consultant's surgical list's going on all the time) we got given lot's of boxes of chocolates and tin's of biscuits from grateful patients and their relatives....that certainly did'nt help......

my sister is a nurse and finds weight management harder now than before.

But whether you're skinny nurses or curvy nurses...you're doing a FAB job and a job that (imo) is often underappreciated by the masses, but essential and difficult - not everyone could do it...I couldn't! It takes a special person to be a nurse...so keep it going ladies xxx

I don't think its just nurses tho, anyone working shifts in social care/healthcare. All meals on the run, no 'proper' breaks and stressful shifts just don't help!!!
