...i used to play Judo between the ages of 10 and 14. I got quite good in that time but i gave up when i discovered boys and all the other things that i could spend my Saturday afternoons doing  .

Anyway i'm going to a class this evening for the first time since then...i'm really quite nervous about it as i'm going on my own but it should be OK just as long as they don't work me too hard!

I shall report back on my return...wish me luck :wavey:

Ohhh. Have fun! I'm a black belt 2nd Dan. Used to be a judo instructor.

Let us know how you get on :)

Oooo wonderful Karion! I got my green belt when i was a kid but if i remember correctly gradings are a little different at junior level? I'm sure it will come back to me (at least i hope so), i can still rememeber my break falls and some of the more basic moves!

Those break falls are certainly good to know! :)

I trained with AJA (Amateur Judo Association). I know the BJA had a slightly different grading system. With AJA, you got up to Brown belt, then started again from white in the adult section.

It was pretty easy to move up the first adult levels though.

You couldn't get a black in the junior section if I remember rightly.

Hope you have a wonderful time! I really missed it when I had to give up.

 I travelled all the way to my class only to find out that it has been cancelled whilst the students are away (darn students!!). It's not back on until the 18th April...:sigh:

I'd got myself all hyped up for it too!

Ah well nevermind, i've put a note on my calander - i'll be slimmer by the 18th anyway so maybe i'll be in a better physical condition!?:p
