Really struggling today

After my high of my first weigh in last night and losing 8lbs :D
I am really really struggling today:cry:

I am not sure what is wrong to be honest, although I don't think that I have drank my usual amount of water.

I feel sick and hungry, I have checked and I am still in Ketosis - feeling a bit miserable:cry:

:grouphugg:sending you hugs!! I really struggled on exactly the same day as you are now - and I thought it would be my easiest! Keep drinking your water, have a nice hot bath and early night with a book or something, take your mind off eating.

I think we need to accept that we will have 'down' days, it's how we deal with these and waht we do going forward that makes us stronger for the next time! Eating won't make you feel better either, you might enjoy it for 2mins, but then you know you'll feel guilty and feel worse than you do now! we'll get there, chin up, keep smiling, sending you hugs x x x

Thanks Hayley - I know that you are right - Day 8 blues or something ?:sigh:

It doesnt help that I am supposed to be studying - I have my final chartered exam two weeks today - but I can't cope with how I am feeling and study at the same time!:(

I am going to run a bath and have a v. early night with a book and a hottie :nightf:

hi there
i remember feeling a bit strange after a big weight loss - i think with me if i had lost that much on a 'normal' diet then it would have been an excuse for a treat(wine or food) - and obviously on LL that was a big no no ( and is obviously why no other diet ever worked for me?!)

hope the feeling passes soon - just think in a few weeks time you will be few stone lighter - and thats the best feeling in the world!

Hi SL

Sorry you have the blues. :(

I know for me, after the buzz of the first weigh in - a few days later I felt a bit glum as well.

I think for me, it suddenly hit me how long I was going to have to do this - that I would not have "first week" losses every week, and the road ahead seemed long and I imagined it would be frought with starvation and deprivation. Kind of a buyrs remorse.

But then, after a few days I shook it off, and I can say now that the time really did fly by.

Maybe it is something like that for you too? Who knows - its quite an extraordinary feat, this abstainance malarky - so it is normal to have a mixed bag of emotions. But it is all part of the ride. ANd it will pass, and you will have days where you will be flying high.

So hang in there. AS said, pamper yourself a bit tonight - nice hot soak, some nice lotions and potions - and even an early night if need be just to take your mind of it.

Hang in there!!

Totally agree with the above ~ after my 1st WI, I still felt a bit hungry....it takes time to adjust. I also agree that the 1st week WI is such a buzz, that day 8 feels like a bit of an anti-climax.

But, stick with it, because I have just had my week 5 WI and have lost 25lbs....that's only 4 weeks ahead of you, so think how great you will feel by then.

I bought loads of trashy magazines the first couple of weeks, and i spent a lot of time reading positive threads on here....kept me going until now, and believe me, I am in a routine with it already.
Some days are still hard, but look how quickly the weight goes on this diet.
It's not worth giving up when the diet is so much quicker than a food diet. And food will always be there!

Keep going! xx :)

Hi Scottishlass
Wel done on your 1st weeks loss!
i believe that everyone on here have given great advice.
Week 2 is still quite dificult but I PROMISe it gets easier.
I am on week 6 and I do not get tempted by food at all. Do what everyone says and pamper yoursel to take your mind off it - just think how you would feel if you gave in it is really not worth it.
Sending you hugs

[Hi SL

I suspect stress is one of your eating triggers (definitely one of mine!) and the stress of forthcoming exams and coping with the revision at the same time as getting to grips with the diet is causing the problem.

As you go through foundation you'll learn to listen to your body and recognise particular times when your thoughts and feelings are creating 'emotional' hunger rather than a physical hunger. My guess is you are dealing with emotional hunger and part of abstinence is learning strategies to cope with this without eating - bath, go for a jog, pop on here etc.

Good luck - stay strong and it does get much easier. xx

Those 2 go hand in hand in my experience. I always know if I haven't had my 3-4ltrs of water as I get a real unconfortable feeling like you said.

Like others' said, there will be low days, it's the price to pay for the highs of this diet.

You know you are in Ketosis, so you can rule out the hunger pangs actually being due to hunger. Don't forget, our bodies don't know the difference between hunger and thirst - both produce the same effect/feeling in the stomach. So it's most likely you are thirsty!

EDIT for Additional comment:
after such a large loss, your body could well just be dealing with that too. 8lbs is a lot of fat to lose in just 7 days, it might just need a good rest, so bath and early night might do the trick! :)

Hi Lassie

Don't get me goiong on this one...................I usually think the answer is:
not drinking enough water. Little and often. For me I needed 4litres per day
to keep feeling well .I did reduce it when LL changed the rules. It didn't suit me and my weight loss slowed down. I quickly went back to my old ways and everything settled back on track.
It's early days, you're doing really well. You'll find a way that suits you. I had a few lovely bubbly baths and early nights in the first couple of weeks when my stomach was sure I should be feeding it in the evenings.
Stress is also a trigger for most of us.
EXAMS = STRESS.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you guys! What support is here on this forum - you all rock!
I didn't cave last night - I took myself off to bed instead! So glad that I did!
I am feeling much better today - and really paying attention to my water consumption as I really think that was the root of all the problems.
Thanks guys:talk017:

Well done Scottish Lass for keeping going. xx :)

Well done lady :)

I think I made the mistake of thinking everything would be fine once I got through week 1, but then had some rough days in week 2 as you've described. It's so easy once you get into ketosis to think you're superwoman, but early nights and being kind to yourself does wonders, as you've discovered!

Well done for staying strong :)

It does get easier!
