The invisible lady

See the lady sitting there
All day long she sits and stares
Sadness lurks inside her eyes
As everybody wanders by

No one knows the life she's led
Or even if she has a bed...
A home to go to when she's done
I'm sure she's not the only one

A man walks by and gives a smile
Makes her happy for a while
She really doesn't ask for much
A smile, a hand, a human touch

The night draws in, she drifts away
She knows no longer can she stay
Tomorrow she'll be back again
To try and ease her inner pain

thanks mini :) x

yes, i wrote it this evening.. in fact, this post is the only copy i have!

Fab poem, nice metre n rhythm, the half-rhyme at the end really reflects the tone of the poem with things being sad n slightly not right.
I especially love the second stanza. Poignant stuff :)
