Posted my first thread yesterday but can't find it anywhere and since my PC was behaving as a virused one I'm assuming the post hasn't made it to the bord somehow, but if it has and you've read it then I appologise for double posting in advance.

Name's Mia-I hope there's some space for me here as I am not actually returning to LL but to a LL style diet.

I have in the past lost succesfully weight with WW and LL but slipped back into my disordered patterns of behaviour and here I am again at my biggest, attempting it one more time.

Just feeling a bit disheartened because I've lost 6 of what's meant to be the best years of my life to obsessing about food and being unhappy with how I look, and TBH with myself and all of you I still don't see the end of that tunnel.
Oh well-I'm not giving up just yet.

Just two issues that have been playing on my mind:

1.I am very wary of ketosis this time around. Is anyone else worried about it?
I hate the fact that they didn't tell me all there is to know about it in LLfor example that ketones are bad toxins and that ketosis can potentially kill you in certain situations etc.

2.What do you think about all the bad press LL and one of the creators got recently?Does that bother you?

Hiya, and welcome back to the LL world...! Don't feel bad about coming back - take it as a positive step towards a new healthier you, because remember, this time, you will keep it off! The more you say that to yourself and explore the issues behind your relationship with food, the more you can come to terms with the reasons behind many things in your own personal life. It's all interlinked somehow. :)

In relation to question 1... Ketosis. Yes, it can be dangerous, but there are different stages of this chemical process. The one you mention which really IS dangerous is the severe state - which is fueled by no substantial food what-so-ever. Complete absence of carbohydrates in your diet or nutrients. LL shakes or any other approved VLCD shakes have enough of all the chemicals, nutrients and yes - even carbs - to never allow your body to slip anywhere near that dangerous level.
Also, while following this type of VLCD for quite a few months it is good to mention the effect of outside chemicals which may shock your body (such as alcohol) - due to your body not being fully prepared to receive them. It can result in some damage in a few individuals, but if Route to Management is followed well at the end - everything will be absolutely ok!

Point Number 2... We have said it time, and time again... Media picks out the cases which are very few and far inbetween (and usually caused by OTHER factors which they fail to mention). I mean, how many people have done LL successfully? More than 10 thousand. The quantity of instances reported in the media? No more than 10. ... Now, statistically, I'd say, LL does a fine job helping people lose weight. Everything has the odd anomaly, and you always have to watch out WHO is telling you the information! If it's the 'Daily Mail' then we have known for a long time that they personally hate LL - and will always report it in a negative light. ;)
