Has anyone made crisps...

...from vegetables? Like the packets you can buy of sliced beetroot, parsnip etc.

Its something I'd thought of trying as a snack, roasting with lots of frylight but I wondered if anyone had done it? I don't know if changing the way the veg is eaten means it has a syn value.

I have I cut them very finely on a mandolin washed and dried them and put them of the glass try of the microwave - sprayed with fl first
spray again season if liked (I dont) then pop in the microwave for 30 second intervals - they will cook all of a sudden and depending on your microwave some parts of the turntable may cook quicker than others

I tried making potato crisps in the oven with frylight, but I left them in a bit too long, so they weren't brilliant, but they satisfied a craving! Just keep an eye on them. Sorry, not sure about the syn value though.

There's always been a debate about the syn value of the potato crisps and lasagne crisps, but I'm not sure about other veggies.

The reason we had from head office was that although they were free foods the amount you could eat as crisps is far more than you'd eat if you were eating spuds or lasagne sheets as part of a meal. I'm sure that, if you're like me, you could probably go through a good few pounds of spuds as crisps, whereas you wouldn't eat that much in a meal.

it's worth checking with your consultant if you can before you start plowing through what you think is free foods.
