I have been on refeed a week and now am on maintainence I am sticking to eating very healthy and only eat half quanties of what i used, i got weighed 2 week after coming off LT and i have put on 6lb!!! I am planning on going back on LT when i come off holiday the week after next. I am so angry and am thinking what is the point in going back on this diet? If it just goes straight back on? And what would happen if i were eating normally? I wanted to finish my last stone on slimming world now i think that its is impossible to keep off never mind loose when you come off it. I am startin to feel that what people said about this diet is true. Im sorry to be so negative but im in peices this morning. Has any one else piled the weight back on but really stuck to a diet?

I know you're saying you're eating healthy & half what you used to- but maybe what you're eating isn't as 'healthy' as you think? Or maybe your portions are still too large?
I know I have a carb problem- if I eat too many (still less than a 'normal' person would eat) then the weight would start to come back on. I limit myself to one portion a day- if I followed the re-feed like I 'should' I'd gain.
Try logging exactly what you eat (every single bite) for a few days. Use an online diary like foodfocus (it's free) that'll work out your fat/carb/protein ratios and it'll help you work out where needs a little 'tweaking'?

I can honstly say ive been very very strict I am living off salad i dont have carbs other than the ones you get in salad, I have a tea plate of food not a normal plate and am only having one meal and two shakes a day and the occational peice of fruit. I allready have a food diary because i plan my meals at the start of the week to make sure I do not stray. Everyone i know knows im on a diet so im be watched far to much to be able to have any thing i shouldnt or cant remember. I lost 4 stone by my self before going on lipo trim so ive never struggled to loose weight through healthy eating i just wanted a boost as the weight loss was starting to slow down. I feel like its messed up my metabolism and now the only way i can loose it is if i have to go back on this diet for the rest of my life. :cry:Although i am currently having a test by the docs for underactive tyroid because mine has always been watched as when i was younger i was monitered because mine is border line. My family have dodgy thyroids (my brother had non hodgkins cancer this is a type of tyroid cancer) and several members of the family are on medication. So lets hope i manage to fight the fat off i managed to get off.

Sorry you are struggling. What your going through is exactly what I am dreading happening when I re-feed! Did your chemist give you any explanation as to why the weight came back on? I definately try what was recommended above about the food diary, I going to bookmark it for myself for when I re-feed. Hope you find some answers, try not to be too hard on yourself.

I have joined that 'Foodfocus' thing, it is fab!!! Would recommend to all! Thanks Irish Mum!!
Kerriann, I think you would find it very useful.

I can sympathise- I have an underactive thyroid too and LT was the ONLY thing that shifted the weight. If your results come back normal, I'd ask him to do some more in-depth blood tests to see if anything is 'red-flagged'. Something might show up?
A few other ideas...
I know it sounds mad- but you may be eating too little? The re-feed is meant to get you back to 'normal' eating asap so your metabolism doesn't suffer. If you're 'surviving' on two shakes and one meal- you're still in 'diet' mode and your body may be hanging onto every nutrient you put into it.
It could also be fluid retention? Salads & veg are mainly water-based, and if you're not drinking enough you'll hang onto all you take in?
Make sure you get protein with your meals- lean fish/chicken or eggs. Your body will start losing muscle if you don't (as you're eating so little) and it'll be a catch-22 situation as if you start to gain a little- you'll end up with more fat than before as you'll now have less muscle- if that makes sense? Muscle burns more calories than fat, so it's to your advantage not to lose any?
Failing all that- ask to be referred to a dietitian/nutritionist to see if they can shed any light on it? I was referred to one and they were pretty useless in my case, I was told I was eating the 'right' foods, in the 'right' amounts, cooked the 'right' ways, exercising 4-5 times a week, and they couldn't understand why I wasn't losing- but I wasn't! In desperation I turned to LT, and it worked. I'm maintaining a while now, and plan to return to tfr next week to hopefully lose the last stone or so.

No problem! I used to live on it when I was cc-ing, and plan to return to it when I finish tfr to keep on track? I love the little graphs and targets it does for you! LOL! How sad am I! :p:D

Keriann

I have never heard of anyone gaining the way you are.
you should write every thing you eat and weight of it on this site and someone may then be able to shed some light
I have 6 friends who came off it and did not gain.
I am coming off it on Monday and am dreading it.

Lol. I was getting quite excited when I saw what it does, I almost wanted to eat something so I could enter the data ha ha, not yet though. Just under 2 weeks, then I can start playing with

Oh my god - you poor thing! No wonder you are soooo upset...

Our worst nightmare - and why I started refeed this week (on Day 5 today).

I had a 'blip break' a few weeks back and put on a pound a day so you can imagine how freaked out I was when I weighed myself 6 days later. However, I HADN'T refed properly (or drank enuff water) so it was definitely the stores etc etc.

Luckily, the weight came off in two days when I started TFR again. However, this knocked my belief millions and I started believing there was no way I could avoid putting weight back on when stopping. Anyway, thats why Ive now started refeed much earlier than planned cos I couldnt get the paranoid thoughts out of my head and wanted to try refeeding properly (so far so good) - and set my mind at rest before losing even more weight in case it was all just gonna pile on afterwards.

I know this isnt what happened to you cos you refed properly but I think it kinda maybe did in reverse. The sheet says you can put on 7-10lb due to glycogen stores and water retention. I would agree with the other poster (sorry cant remember who it was) who said you may be eating too little and so your body is in starvation mode and grabbing and holding onto everything it can.

The amount you are eating (just wee salads and shakes) is very low but not the same as putting you into ketosis where you shed not grab.

Och to be honest, Im probably out of order posting this cos Im no expert and you are further down the line so its not as if Ive even been there. But I just have a feeling.

I understand how demoralising it must be, and how f*ckin' frustrating BUT dont give up. Drink tons of water and if you want to continue with the 2shakes/1meal method, perhaps have a snack between each meal/shake aswell, like fruit or WW yougurt. If ur grazing, maybe your body wont seize so much.

Sounds nuts eh! Eat more to lose more .... OMG we cant win eh! We swing between worrying about eating too much and worrying about eating too little lol.

I cant say how much this forum has helped me in just 36 hours (I only just found out about it) - I now strongly believe we can keep the weight off cos there are just too many success stories on here (and I dont think they are fakes paid by LP!!!).

I'll also bet that if we trawled back through every success story, there would be a blip or few - where they struggled or had unexplained gain or whatever! Thats why I think this forum will be great.

Good luck and keep smiling - everytime you feel your teeth grit in frustration - chuck another glass of water in instead lol ...

Hi Keriann,

I apologise in advance if this sounds harsh .... especially as I may be wrong but I get the impression from this post that you have not actually refed properly ...?? Did you follow the refeed sheet to the absolute letter? Did you reintroduce the foods including carbs in the right order and the right quantities?

I'm sorry but I'm guessing not and if that is the case then more than likely that'll be at least part of the reason why you're experiencing these difficulties.

The refeed is scientifically constructed so that your body builds back up to 'normal' eating in a controlled way. It replenishes your glycogen stores in the correct way. (For complete details please do a search if you want to)
What you do after a week or two of this is up to yourself but cutting out any food group completely and/or cutting your intake too much won't help you in the long run. Nobody can 'live off' salad, and if you had refed properly you wouldn't be having 2 shakes a day.

Again I apologise but there are many of us who have done things to the letter and are successfully maintaining, proving that what 'everybody says' about this diet is NOT true. Not when it's done properly.

I'm really sorry that you're upset and downhearted but please don't think that you know better than the scientists who devised this plan. God knows I've had issues with Liptrim as a company - anyone who's been around here more than a few months will testify to that - but you can't fault the plan or the science and research behind it.

Good luck to you - I really hope everything works out well. xx
