changing diets

im into wk5 on LL and im considering changing over to SW, i cant say i have found LL easy i had 2 lapses 1st one in wk2 & then in wk3 but after a great chat in my group wk4 i was very focused but to my disappointment ive only lost 1.5lbs , this past week i feel like i have missed out on alot! my hubby & i had a friend over from france & on our visit to the pub i drank water on two ocassions when they were eating a pub lunch i sat eating 1 of my bars & felt very isolated then to see that ive only lost 1.5lbs i dont feel it is worth it!!!
if i leave to join SW ive been told i will probably regain the 1st 4lbs i have lost so far is this true? im terrified to stop incase this happens but at the same time i cant justify not eating all week for a 1.5lb loss

Hi there
I would really recommend sticking with LL.
If you do it, it will work and 3 months down the line you WILL be at least 3 stone lighter

My losses weren't always big, (see below) but i stuck with it and fell fantastic.

You really musn't cheat tho - its not really worth it as you are wasting money, you will feel hungry and it won't work.

Social occasions are a pain, but i just used them to feel empowered - there will always be other events even if you miss a few parties/celebrations just think of all the ones you will eventually end up at, dressed in your size 8 clothes (or what ever your goal is)

its the best thing i ever did and SW would never have got me there - believe me ive tried just about every other diet

good luck with whatever you decide - and don't forget this site is fab for support, it helped me immensely, in fact id go so far to say that i might not have got there without it!

Hi Nicky,

Hon, if you lapse, you will see smaller losses. If you don;t - you will be highly rewarded.

You are very likely to put a fair amount back on if you go back to eating food. Probably not all, but I would wager some.

Is it really so awful that your mates ate, and you didn;t? Its not forever - just for now. :)

I would say stick it out - give it 3 weeks of pure committed excellance - and see how great you do - then decide. Don;t throw the towel in yet, thinking its not working. It only works, if you follow the rules - so the diet hasnt let you down. ;)

I lost 10 stone in 10 months - that was following the rules 100% - you can see how fast it works when you do! That would have taken YEARS on SW.... in fact, when I did SW, years ago, I lost 2 stone in slimming world in 15 months - for all the ups and downs that happen.....

so. think how bad do you wnat to be slim, and how long do you want to take to get there?

Good luck to your decision making. :)

Of course we here are going to be a bit biased and say "Stick with LL!" and so on, but let's put that at aside and look at the fact that you have lost 18lbs in 4 weeks. 1stone and 4lbs in only 28 days, an average of 4.5lbs each week, and you will keep losing like that each month if you stick to LL without cheating - I seriously doubt another diet like SW could say the same, in fact I know it couldn't.

When it comes to LL, and weightloss in general, you HAVE to keep the bigger picture in mind. Sure, you may have had a low loss this week, but in your first week you lost over half a stone, and you even managed to lose just over and just under 4lbs the following 2 weeks despite lapsing - and you will continue to lose that sort of weight every week IF you stick to it 100%.

This is your first low-loss week too, which we have all experienced; some more often than others. It is dissapointing, I know, but it is not something that is consistent - if anything, doing next week 100% will see you have a loss which is better than your previous 3 week's losses.

No-one said this would be easy. Lord nows, after nearly 12 months I am living testament to the ups and downs of this diet.

Social aspects, I can really relate to - I've been abstinant through Halloween, Fireworks night, Christmas, Easter, my brother's birthday, my birthday, my Dad's 50th party, numerous nights out and various meals with my brother and his fiancé/family. Every time I felt like giving in, giving up and becoming the old me again.

BUT, I used the CBT and TA we've been taught, stayed the course, and I've come through all of that with the knowledge that instead of being the awkward, sweaty, food-concerned far bloke eating more than anyone else, I've been the slimmer, more confident, more outgoing and happier person I always felt was inside me.

Of course, it's your decision, and best of luck with whatever you decide; I just urge you to give LL one more week, do it 100%, and see what happens; ultimately, I urge you to make the decision based on what is best for you, not based on what you felt on your WI this 1 week.

I've put that in bold as that's something that I have frequently told myself over the last few months.

EDIT: Had another thought after re-reading your sig, you've had 4 weeks on LL so it stands to reason that one of those weeks has been your TOTM (unless my male mind is not calculating something right here :p ) and I have a sneaking suspicion that could have been this past week? Most of the ladies here have stated that it can greatly affect their losses that week, mainly due to water retention, and that the following week they have a great loss as the water is no longer retained. Just a thought :)

Theres absolutely no reason why you should put weight back on when you change to something like SW. A lot of people have made the transition very successfully and some have had a gain of a couple of lbs in their first week but some have still lost in week one then continued to lose after that. Why not have a look at the SW forum to see how people are doing on it, and what theyre eating then weigh up (excuse the pun) the pros and cons.

Obviously the weight loss is slower but stick to it and you can comfortably lose half a stone a month. Slower than LL but it depends what you prefer, slow but allowing you to eat or faster and stricter

Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi Nicky-stacey

I too had a week when I lost only 1.5lb and was upset like you are.
However since then I have 4.5 then 5.5 so it is definitely worth sticking with it.
I now feel great and like Blondelogic says which other diet would yo have lost so much alreay on?
Whatever you decide must be for yourself just remember the reason you started LL in the first place. That is what i did and I am now finding it really easy going.
Lots of energy and not bothered by food at all.
I can't believe it!
Hope you stick with us - take care

Thank you all very much your all such a great inspiration and of course your all right :) i need to keep going because if i give in now then i will be letting myself down & the last 4wks will have been for nothing, i have been 100% focused for the last 13 days with no lapses which is why i was so devastated at my low loss but im going to keep going & hopefully i will see a better loss next week,

But your right i need to focus on the bigger picture i have had good loss in the last 4wks & i have lost 5cm from my bust 4cm from my waist & 4cm from my hips :D

You guys are a fantastic support so i think im going to have to make time to have daily visits here

Hi,

I have only been on LL for 3 weeks, but I have to say that I haven't even considered cheating. For a start, it's bloomin' expensive, so I'm not paying for packs AND food! And also, I am not happy at my current weight.

You need to question why you have lapsed more than once already, and why you are still considering lapsing. LL won't work if you swap and change between the packs and the odd snack ~ it's a strict regime and it has to be adhered to if you want to get to your goal. I have been in social situations too, but it's not the fault of the people who are eating or drinking that I need to lose weight...it was me who put the weight on, so it is me who needs to act on that if I am not happy....I find the glass half full method of thinking is far more constructive than the glass half empty scenario.

That said, maybe you are not ready to abstain and LL isn't the right diet for you. Only you can decide.

Good luck either way. :)

I am biased and and would say stick with Lighter Life, some weeks you will have a low loss or even stay the same (sts) which has happened to me but I kept going. However like other posters have said it is the overall picture you should be looking at not just the low weeks. As humans we can be quite funny in our quirks, I bet you had no problem probably spending £66 to put on 1.5lbs in a week, but begrudge spending it to take it off. Stick with LL the weight will fall of and imagine how you will feel this Christmas, a much slimmer you under the mistletoe.

Another biased LL'er here :) I really wish you luck whatever you decided, but imho LL is the way forward. I second everything BL, Daisy, Pete and all have said.

Good Luck Hun

Jez

Everyone is right when they say that if you keep coming back to the forum the boost it gives you will encourage you to carry on.
I know it helped me - stick with it Nicky.
