Running

I decided I need a fitness goal to work towards (the goal being one of the reasons this diet has worked for me so far), so I decided to investigate a local run and emailed them, mentioned my weight at the start of the year and that I've lost loads and need a fitness challenge.

Anyway, I received this reply:

On another note, you may be the type of newcomer, with a gaol, I am looking for.

I have a column in the Evening Gazette in the run up to the September, Middlesbrough 10K.
I normally take a Gazette reporter, who is a couch potatoe and coach them to run the Middlesbrough event.

This year we advertised for members of the public, who were totally unfit, not sports minded but would like to change their life
style. We short listed a man and three women, and I took them under my wing. They are now known as Team Tees Pride.
They have competed in two 10K races, including the Middlesbrough goal race and several Albert Park 5Ks.

Their next goal, because they have all got the bug, is the Redcar half marathon, next April and a marathon, within
another 8 months of the half. They have all become very good friends. The guy, was 19 stone when he started
he has lost three stone already

Presently, I am speaking to all four, local Primary Care Trusts, with a view to them coming on board, helping to kit
four new, four person teams, aiming at the April Hartlepool Marina 5 mile, Tees Barrage 10K, Victorian 10K and
2010 Middlesbrough 10K, as well as other races.

I will require four people from Middlesbrough, four from Hartlepool, four from Redcar & Cleveland and four from Stockton.
If you fall into any of these area's and would like to get involved, IF a deal is agreed, please let me have a brief bio, age, sex,
sporting (if any) history address, contact telephone number and why you want to take up such a challenge.

I've just emailed him to put myself forward!

OMG

What am I doing lol

I hope they accept me, this would be brilliant!

OMG OMG what an opportunity this is fabulous this would also help you through the hardest part the maintenance stage. Go Jim Go Jim x

Crikey hun, theres no doing things by halfs is there! Ooooohh..... you could be a famous former fatty fitness freak, get in the papers and all sorts, how exciting, and good prospect for blowing cd's trumpet!
Heck, on a serious note, well done... it takes some guts to put yourself out there in that way, and shows real commitment to the new way of life you are achieving. Not sure i could be so brave. xx

think that is a brilliant idea. Will give you a new goal, have a coach and the exercise will build up all your muscle which wil help you stay slim. well done

OOh! Soon have you pounding the streets then! You will, of course, be brilliant, as you have such good focus - if you can succeed at CD you can succeed at anything:)

How exciting!!

Thanks all! Fingers crossed they'll take me on, I'll definately be pushing the CD angle if they do. I did mention that in my bio that I sent in, and included my 'before and now' picture from my album on here. Lol, hope it sways them rather than putting them off haha

Jeez well done for being so motivated! We will be routing for you and hope you get in! Go lunar, go lunar!!! lol

Wow....that looks brilliant.....keep us posted!!

Go Lunar Jim, the sky's the limit for you. You have proven that you can achieve anything you set your mind too. "accept you" they be so lucky to have you on board. Goodluck!

What are you doing?

Taking on an exciting, healthy and challenging venture.

And getting inspired with your fitness regime - I still haven't got up off my lazy backside to do any exercise snce starting CD - and certainly didn't do any before. I really should be following your example, even if it was a bit of power- walking.

Good Luck, we will all be wanting to hear your progress!

Thats great LJ!! Let us know what happens!! x x

Thats fab Jim, good luck! Funnily enough I mapped out a run today, only 2.5 miles, something for me to aim for.......want to lose a couple more stones first, limit the damage on the old joints!

Sounds like a sensible start Ruth!

I'm not sure how I'll take to this running lark, with me doing interval training at the gym I've not ran for more than two minutes at a time...

Small steps and build up, I guess

that would be amazing!!!
I hope you get through! :D:D:D
xxx

Hey Jim Good luck with the running you'll be super fit in no time....If you're looking for training ideas the Virgin London marathon site has a great training schedule for all fitnesses. think it works on a 24 week training guide. starts at beginner (i downloaded that one:eek:) but is good for training towards any sort of run x
