Hi everyone!

I'm new to SW (started yesterday) I don't really eat meat so will be doing all green days. I haven't got a great deal to lose, Im only just over 5 foot and weight 10 stone so want to get down to 8 and a half, but more realistically 9 stone :). Do you think SW will work for me?

Also, when it says i can eat unlimited rice, pasta, potatoes on a green day - does it really mean unlimited??? Here is what i am eating on an average day, would anyone mind having a look and seeing if i am doing it correctly? (I cant afford to go to the meetings so am attempting it myself with the aid of a book my friend gave me with all the syns and green/red explanations)

Breakfast - Spanish Omlette (made with fry-light)
Snack - 1/2 Alpen Light Cereal Bars
Dinner - Uncle Bens Rice, with veggies and fajita mix mixed in (sometimes half a bag, sometimes full bag)
Tea - Quorn Chicken Burger x 2 (5 syns), pack Batchelors savoury rice, tin of corn/peas or pasta with 1 table spoon pesto (2 syns)

Also, what is the best alcoholic drink to drink syn-wise?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated :D

SW works for everyone, we've had people at group who "only" had a stone to lose and it worked for them.

Yup

Here is what i am eating on an average day, would anyone mind having a look and seeing if i am doing it correctly? (I cant afford to go to the meetings so am attempting it myself with the aid of a book my friend gave me with all the syns and green/red explanations)

Breakfast - Spanish Omlette (made with fry-light)
Snack - 1/2 Alpen Light Cereal Bars
Dinner - Uncle Bens Rice, is this out of a pouch, the ready made stuff? If it is, then it's synned with veggies and fajita mix mixed in (sometimes half a bag, sometimes full bag) this may be synned too, depends on make
Tea - Quorn Chicken Burger x 2 (5 syns), pack Batchelors savoury rice, tin of corn/peas or pasta with 1 table spoon pesto (2 syns)

You need another B choice and your A choices too.

Also, what is the best alcoholic drink to drink syn-wise?

Spirits with low cal mixers

Any help would be gratefully appreciated :D

Hope this helps hun! xx

Hi Jaylou!

Thanks for replying so quick, there is so much to take in syn-wise! Oh no about the Uncle Bens rice (it is in a packet - that ready to wok one ) if i were to eat just normal boil in the bag rice would that be without syns? The fajita mix is old el paso (i have looked on the internet and book but cant find it!)

I have about 3 x coffee and tea with milk and sweetener and with pasta i have a tablespoon of parmesan - would that be my A choice for the day? and will prob have 2 alpen bars throughout the day or maybe 2 x Kingsmill 50/50 bread - would that make up my allowances?

Sorry to be a pest, im just trying to wrap my head around it and want to make sure i'm doing it right. Id better start tommorrow properly as been eating loads of that wok rice ... oops!

No worries, it's why we are here!

Any ready made rice is synned as it has oils in it, they are about 3 syns a pouch. Best to cook your own hun!
The old el paso fajita mix is 5.5 syns per 35g packet.
You get 28g parmesan for an A choice and 250ml (i think) of semi skimmed milk for an A choice. A tbsp parmesan is 1.5 syns.
You can have alpen lights (2) for a B choice but not alpen bars and you can't have 50/50 bread as a B choice either, it has to be wholemeal to count!
Ah, so much to take in I know - it's second nature to me!

Have a look at Squiddie's sticky post - Advice for newcomers etc, there's some fab stuff on there.

Keep on asking though!

Right, will def start doing my own rice from tonight! about the old el paso, but it makes the rice taste really nice so if use 1 pack for 4 meals then only about 1.5 syns so can cope with that. Is batchelors savoury rice (beef and mushroom flavour) still free? Are spaghetti hoops free? I know beans are, but im not a massive fan of beans!

Oops about the 50/50 bread, can i eat a wholemeal barm as one of my B choices instead? I think ive got the right Alpen Lights, they are bars but def say light on the front and they are quite small?

Forgot to ask before ... is malibu and diet coke ok to drink or should i still to something like vodka? I prefer to drink wine, but is way to high on syns

Thank you for all your help with this, i really appreciate it and will def take a look at that sticky!

Morning, savoury rice and spaghetti hoops are free.
You can have a wholemeal roll, but it must be a 57g one, Tesco light choices ones are 57g I believe!
I'm not sure how many syns malibu is and I can't see it on the website, maybe post a query on the syn query thread, someone should know!
