Using Hot Water to Make meals???

Having read Karen's thread and all the stuff about not making the soups with boiling water... i just wanted post this to see am i doing it right...

to make a soup i mix about 100mls of cold water with the soup mix, I then pour about 200-300mls of boiling water... straight from a boiled kettle into the mix and then drink it....

is this wrong??? cos i can't really bear it any cooler....

advice please???

I think its probably fine but my LLC used to say boil the kettle and then let it sit for a minute rather than pour straight on.

But I agree, its only hot shakes and soups that stop me freezing to death on a VLCD  :)

Thanks for that response... thats the way i always make them and hasn't done me any harm :D :D

I'm naughty! (no thats not what I mean lol)

I put boiling water out the kettle in my mixing beaker (about 250 mls) then add the soup pack and then just whizz it up.

I know some people don't like the way it goes slightly frothy but it doesn't bother me, and if it does kill off any nutrients then I'm another one who feels fine anyway!

I always advise my clients that if they're making it in a blender to boil the kettle but switch it off just before it comes to the boil, so it's still really hot, but not quite boiling, then put that water in a beaker, add your soup and blend. I don't find you need to mix it with cold water first, apart from the tomato soup which it's recommended to do this way. They're still really hot, but as the water isn't boiling you're not destroying the vitamins.

If you've got a smoothie maker - the kind that heats them up, that's fine to use as again it doesn't boil the water, just heats them to not quite boiling.

HTH :)
