BMI in metric or imperial?

When i do my BMI it's bigger if i use the metric system!!!

5ft is 1.50, and 1inch is 2.54 cm

so 5ft6 is 1m.65 but with 5ff6 and 190 pounds my bmi is 30.7

but in imperial 1.65 and 86.2kilos it is 31.7.

Also for 5ft7 the BMI is 29.8 if you are 190 pounds

but im metric 5ft 7 is 1.6778

and if you follow the formula:

1.6778X1.6778=2.825012

then you divide your weight in kilos by this number

86.2/2.855012=30.6

so there is a difference

I am 1.66 and a half so what is that in foot and inches???

what to do???
Sorry if i bothered you with my calculations, i can't help it working out numbers!!!

I have had the same problem with this and I gave up :D

I bought scales that tell me my BMI - they say my BMI is currently 26.7 but my ticker says 27.1!?!

Formulas..

IMPERIAL

(weight in pounds * 703 / Height in inches squared

OR METRIC

weight in kilograms / height in metres squared

thats all to confusing for me :D
im an imperial girl feet inches lbs stones still

debz x

i wouldnt worry too much about bmi - personally i think its a load of junk!

Me for example, when down to my goal weight of 11st (after losing 8st 6lbs) i will still be classed as overweight!!!!!!!

I would suggest not taking any notice of it as it doesnt account for body build etc just based simply on height and weight. something like a bmi needs to be more specific to the person. But hey just my opinion lol :p
