Empty Tins

Sorry if this has been posted but I lack the energy to look for a similar thread...
So what do people do with the tins when they are empty? I figured they shouldn't just be thrown away, can they be recycled?

I always put mine in the recycling, or sometimes my mum's partner has them for his shed for nails and stuff lol!

Ha lol he loves them, says they are just the right size! He used to pinch my baby milk powder ones when the kids were little, god knows exactly what he does with all these tins????

Shame they can't keep a house as tidy as they keep their sheds!

Yep, mine go in the recycling, although we are not allowed to put the plastic lids in, which have to go seperate in the general rubbish.

Here are a few suggestions I've thought of:

Cover tin with sticky back plastic, fabric, fancy paper or paint it, cut slot in lid and you have a savings tin.

Get kids to decorate them to give as gifts for 'stuff boxes' for friends to keep knick knacks in.

Decorate them and use to store cotton wool, string, make up, small toys, screws/nails etc

If giving to children, run the can opener around the top to seal down the sharp bit where the metal lid pulls away from first.

i either recycle too or have used 3 of them for the kids, sprayed them silver with their names on and they use it to save their pocket money in, a lot cheaper than buying the ones you have to canopener into!
