Hungry For Life
Does anybody on here EVER hear a neighbour's burglar alarm going off and think "Wow, somebody is breaking into their house...I'd better phone the Police!" ?
No?
I thought not. You probably go "AAarrrgh! Why is that THING going off again?! They need to get it MENDED!".
Burglar alarms are a complete nuisance and a total waste of time.
Our neighbours, over the road, have the burglar alarm from Hell. That thing rings like a mofo and is totally random...Plus, even when the family are THERE they seem incapable of turning it off!
Yesterday the alarm rang from 7pm until 1am this morning NON STOP. Then, it started again from 3am until 4am! The family were there the whole time. The guy walked about outside for a bit but just went back in.
At 3.15am I went and rung their doorbell, to complain, but they wouldn't answer the door. My b/f refused to get involved because he is so depressed and sleep-deprived anyway (following the loss of his Mother exactly one year ago) he thought he would become "Too offensive".
The Police wouldn't get involved. The Environmental Health hotline only deals with "Licensed premises". We can phone the Council on Monday (this isn't the first time it has happened but we've been being too nice about it, so far)... Don't know what they can do. Probably say "Keep a diary of events". Ugh.
Burglar alarms should be banned, or irresponsible owners given an ASBO.
