Achievable Goals

Hi I just wondered what the rest of you think about setting goals.....I told my counsellor that I would be happy weighing 131/2 stone which would put me at a size 14, I lied!! I would love to be smaller than that but have never, in my adult life, been any smaller than this and therefore find it impossible to imagine myself at a smaller size. Also, I don't know if, at 5' 11'' I should go any lower! What do you think, anyone else have the same problem, and are there any other really tall girls out there?

I changed my goal from 11 stone to 10'7 a good few weeks ago as ive always been around 11 stone my adult life..so yes you can change it :D

Im a short a$$ though at 5'4 so cant really advise on the height thing x

ideal wieght for your height is between 140-171 pounds (10 and 12 stones) so if you feel comfortable at 13 then its down to u! as long as you're happy thats the main thing! i think all our goals on here are to acheive a healthy weight and be happy within ourselves!

I'm your height - originally said 13 stones as I could just about remember being that weight as a young adult (and thinking I was fat then!!). I am now 12.8 and hoping to 'fix' at just under 12 stones so that will be my cut off weight to prevent going into big gains. I have just hit size 14 trousers at this weight although it depends on body shape I guess. My CDC is just shorter than I am and just over 10st but there is no way I would ever manage to get that low as my body frame is much bigger than hers. Not sure of your age but if you are not in your 20s, there comes a time when you have to choose between your ar*e and your face (i.e. looking aged by losing too much when you are older). I am aiming for 12st which is lower than I have been as an adult and I'm worried that I won't realistically be able to maintain at that weight but I need to give it a go.
Good luck!

lol boardwitless like ur style! Ive got my goal as 12st at mo, but would like to be 11.7 if i dont find it too hard to stay there x

LOL- I like your style boardwitless!! I expect as I progress and see how things are shaping up I will adjust my goal accordingly. Actually I can't believe I am bothering about whether to go for 12 stone or 13 when at the moment I would just be over the moon to be under 20!! Oh well, hopefully by this time next year the dilemma will be over. Good luck all.

When I first started I put 14st as my target as I couldn't imagine getting any lower than that. 14st came round in the blink of an eye and I changed my goal immediately! Whilst I have moved up the plans and increased my goal slightly due to other issues I know now that I can get realistically get to a BMI within the healthy range.

But, set your target to what you want to get to initially and then see how you get on with the diet, but honestly - it can work like a dream!!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

its a movable feast hun for you to chop and change as you see fit!
Set yourself some smaller goals first and then the bigger ones will leap up at you in the end! :D
I always wanted to get to 11 7 pre-CD as i would have lost 10st all together, but when i started CD, i set it at 10st 7, then changed it to 10 5, and now down to 10! Its all about how you feel as you get lower down the numbers! My first goal was a healthy BMI....5lbs to go! :D:D:D

Hi Polly, i am of a similar height and size to you, all though i possibly am heavier!!!!

I havnt really set my self a weight related goal, my CDC says 12.7st should be my target weight, but to be totally honest, i would be happy with a size 14/16, what ever weight that may be!!!

just have a think about it, find what you will be happy with, a certain clothes size, and work towards that, then figure out at what weight you would be happy with. its the only way i think of it really at the minute!!! as, like you, i would br happy to get under 20st

Wales and LizzMB I am really impressed with your huge losses and can only dream of that at the moment. specialk it is really nice to 'speak' to someone in the same boat as me, well done with your loss so far I'm sure you (and I) will do it...I look forward to hearing about your progress!

Polly - this diet is truly an awesome tool to help you lose weight. Stick with it, watch the weight fall off and before you know it you are in the swing of things and it becomes second nature!

I can honestly say hand on heart that I didn't expect to get as much from this diet as I have, but it has changed my life! Just go for it!

Hey polly odnt worry about it!!!!! i will all ways be about if you want a chat, im never far away from an internet connection and mini's :D

hope your journey is easier than mine :)

Thanks again for the replies girls, sorry i didn't reply before but worked a 12 hour shift yesterday so was too tired even to sit upright in front of the computer and type

specialk, anytime you want a boost i am up for it! My journey at the mo is stuck in traffic  I am having sooooo much trouble trying to get back into SS but keep failing and start all over the next day. I know it feels so much better when i SS and can feel the weight going and i want it more than anything so why do sabotage myself with food that if i'm honest i don't even want that much? Oh, well onwards and upwards i will re-start at tea-time which wont be until after 9 as i am back into work for 4.30.
I hope you are having a more sucessful day

I am 5' 8'' and I am looking for a weight just under 12 stone. This will put me in a healthy BMI (just!). I may change this to a heavier weight as I do have a large build, and also I can't remember ever weighing under 13 stone, and I looked pretty good then! It's a cop-out thing to say, but I do carry weight better.

It's all about how you feel, and you can always change it later. I am using mini goals to help, such as get under 400lbs, loose 100lbs, get under 300lbs etc.

Hope that you have better luck getting back into SS. x

Like Crimson I am 5' 8" & originally aimed for 11st, never thought I would get there. Now I am hoping to edge lower, but also happy to stay around 11 for a while. It gives me BMI of 23 and I look and feel slim, and my confidence has skyrocketed, don't ever remember feeling content in my own skin before. So... suggestion would be, use BMI as a guide? Aim for 23/24/25, top part of healthy BMI. I am over 40 so in the arse v face contest I should be in trouble after losing 4 st, but I feel (& have been told I look) 10 years younger.

Don't be scared to aim for the middle of a healthy BMI. With CD, you really CAN do it.

Hey Crimson, i am somewhat of the same size and weight to yourself, i am struggling massivly, as most people have less than me!

Suprisingly i do carry my weight better than most, but i am 6ft after all... *shrugs*

This may sound weird, but I "like" to find people who have a similar amount to lose as me. It's like a comfort, and also someone to relate to. When I used to try other diets, if the instructor hadn't lost weight, or not very much weight, I found it had to relate to them. How could they know what I was going through, if they had never been there themselves?

I am starting my CD journey later this week (although you could say I have already started being here on this forum!!). If you want to chat, just let me know! x

i can relate to that too, my CDC doesnt really seem to have gone through the plans as she is quite a large lady :( so i am happy talking to ppl on here !!!!
