Getting back on it

Hey all.

A couple of years ago, I used to attend WW, and was doing really well. I got down from 28 stone to 22 stone, but then I had an unfortunate accident, and ended up in hospital for surgery on my spine. As I couldn't exercise for nearly a year, all the good I previously did, went away, and I put the weight back on.

Since then, I've tried again in fits and starts, but just can't seem to get the weight off, or to get some real motivation :(

I went back to WW for a short while, but found myself being disheartened as I wasn't losing much (if any weight).

I'm looking to get started, and was wondering what I should do? Whether I should go it alone and try to lose the weight myself, or whether to join a place like WW or SW to help me along? I did used to enjoy WW, but as I say, I got disheartened easily when things didn't go my way (even though I was trying my hardest!)

Any help/suggestions/info/chatter would be much appreciated :)

Cheers!

Hi Jimmy, sorry to hear that you're struggling to get motivated, I can relate to that. I couldn't really tell you whether WW or SW will be what you need again, if you think it didn't work for you last time. The question is why did you get disheartened and why was the weight not coming off?

In my opinion if there is a lot of weight to lose, you are going to need some support and encouragement, especially if you find getting it here is not enough to keep you on track. Have you no personal friends or family that can support or help?

There are a multitude of different ways to lose weight, but getting support and encouragement when the going gets tough is pretty vital to success. I really hope you can find that! x
