From Cambridge to Atkins

Hi everyone,

I'm on my first week of Cambridge, but really really really can't stomach the shakes etc - they make me sick! Literally!

Initially it was a toss up between Cambridge and Atkins (due to the ketosis aspect)

I'm looking to shift from Cambridge to Atkins - Has anyone else done this?

Hello Sammy Dee, there are a few of us on here that have made the switch over. I did 3 months on ss+ and lost 3 stone then made the switch n have lost another 1.5 stone since then. It's a slower loss on atkins but great to eat food!! :) And the ketosis aspect really helps too.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.. Jim's stickies at the top give more info about atkins so give them a read :)

Hi Sammy,

I did Cambridge and lost 4 stones, just got fed up with it and moved to Atkins for the last stone. I've only been doing it a week and the scales are moving slowly in the right direction.
The Cambrdge meals made me gag at first, but you do get used to them and the weight loss is so fast.
Atkins is more family friendly, if you don't live alone and doesn't feel like a diet at all to me. And....big bonus, I don't feel hungry which I did almost all the time on Cambridge. But, I think the weight losses are slower, although that probably depends on how much you have to lose.
Good luck whatever you choose the people on both sites are very kind and helpful.

Hi guys! I've done cd for a week and lost 9lbs but I can't afford it anymore so I want to move to atkins. Will I gain loads when I start eating?

MS, I think you will still lose weight as Atkins is quite low carb, but you need to do a clean induction. You'll probably not lose as quickly though.

Hi I have been on Cambridge diet since 6 months now going onto Atkins diet has anyone else switched and managed to loose weight, anyone swapped and not been able to loose weight on atkins after cd?

I swapped from CD to Atkins last year. Have been maintaining most of the time since.

Nearly six months ago I decided to take a serious stab at Atkins again, to shift the last couple of stones.

It is not superfast unless you have a large amount of weight to lose, but the slower rate of loss might well be healthier and Atkins is much easier to stick to since you can eat lots of the right, low carb food.

This makes long-term maintenance less scary, for one thing! I love low carbing. Can't see me going back to mad levels of carb intake - at least I hope not - I know I'd regain fast. Atkins is right for me.
