Must recommend smoothie maker!

Stirky7

Believe!
A couple of weeks ago my hand blender broke :( I hadn't had that one long as just bought a tesco value one after my bruan died, which I'd had over 5 years. So off I went to buy a new one.

I thought after the poor performance of the cheap one, couldn't cope with the ice cubes, that I'd have to spend a bit more. I was going to get a bruan one again, but then I saw the Kenwood Smoothie 2 Go maker. Looked good, and was cheaper than the bruan hand blender at £22.50. So being as I was buying something just for my slimfast shakes thought I'd go for that.

It's brilliant!!! Comes with two mugs with travel lids (not that I've used them yet) but could be handy to make and take one with you for later if you have a fridge at work etc. Plus I've never tasted the shakes so nice as they are when made with that! I just make it up with 4 ice cubes (like I did when I made them with the hand blender) but they just come out so frothy and creamy, gorgeous ;)

I use an Argos own brand but I've not been able to put ice cubes in it for a while cos it started to smell like the motor was burning. I prefer the Slim Fast blended with ice cubes so thanks for the recommendation, googled it and it's only £17.47 at Amazon and highly recommended there too.

That's a good price! Yes it is brilliant! I can't drink the shakes without ice in them, they are yukky without! So when my blender broke I was in a mad panic to get another one the same day!

No you don't have to lift the machine upside down. You put a lid that has the blades in it on the cup, then turn the cup upside down to fit onto the machine, just easily twists into place and then untwists to lift off and undo the blade lid to put your drinking lid on (or drink it without the lid like I do) :D

Yes it's easy peasy to clean :)

I really rate the Kenwood smoothie to go - had mine a few months now. I think I got mine on offer as it was £17.99 in Robert Dyas. Truly an excellent purchase. Means I can make a shake to take to work to keep in the fridge.

Woot thanks for this thread. I have been wanting to buy one but have no idea what will actually break the ice cubes up.

Yes the shakes are SO much better with ice cubes, I can't stand them without, taste all gritty and gross, but when made with ice they are delicious! Yes make sure whatever blender you go for it's ok for ice, usually will say on it if it is, as the ones that aren't man enough for ice cubes will break rather quickly :(

At least you'll have it to start with! Good luck with the baby, let us know as soon as you can xxx
