Help Persistant Headache/Migraine - just me?

Hello all
I wondered if I am alone in this, I am in week 9 and am having 3 or 4 massive headaches per week. Some of which are so bad I feel I could throw up. I am certain it is not dehydration as I easily drink 4/4.5 litres per day.

Today I have spent the day walking round Drayton Manor Park and by the time I was on my way home I almost asked hubbie to pull over so I could be sick.

When home I had a surf of the net and now believe the headaches are being caused by low blood sugar :

"If we don’t eat enough calories for our bodies’ needs, then our blood-glucose levels drop too low. This can happen if we skip meals, fast, diet, or exercise on insufficient food.

Fasting, eating high-sugar foods, dieting too rigorously, and skipping meals can all trigger, or make people more likely to have a headache or migraine. Even delayed or irregular meals can make a difference. This is usually due to people’s blood-glucose levels falling too low.

Headaches produced from going without food are often quite severe and accompanied by mild nausea. There is also a similarity between some of the symptoms of missing a meal and the early warning signs (premonitory) of a migraine attack, such as: yawning, pallor, sweating, headache, a craving for sweet things, and mood changes."

Am I alone in this? is it common on LL? I am still 100% committed but this is making my life so difficult (and painful)!

Do you think if I split packs and ate more frequently it would help?

Does anyone else split packs - is it easy to guess what half of the powder looks like?

All advice gratefully received.

Hi love, sorry you are feeling rubbish. It could be the diet based on what you found. Certainly sounds like what you described. but it might be a number of things too.

SPlitting packs may be a good idea, might stabilise your blood sugars. Also, maybe take paracetomol regularly for a few days - not just as and when you have a head ache - see how that helps.

Do you have kitchen scales? I have digital ones and makes splitting a pack simple - 17 grams is half a pack I believe. THen just fold the pack up nice and tight to keep air out.

It could always be something else - a bug or virus, so be careful. If they continue, you could always pop in to see your doc.

Headaches can accompany ketosis....but seems usually in the early days, but I know a few folks who stayed on paracetomal a lot to ward them off.

I hope it passes. And its good you are still determined - just be careful and dont make yourself sick. You need to feel good while you are getting slim and gorgeous. :)

Keep us posted.

I suppose LL/dieting like this doesn't affect everyone in the same manner; the state of ketosis seems to bring buckets of energy to many individuals!

However, you're not alone - ketosis never brought me the joys of energy; just quite a lot of lethargy, headaches and muscle pain. Even though I'm now eating more properly (I have finished LL/Lite) - I still find that on certain days when I don't eat 'right' I am quite badly affected.

I would urge you to be careful; and if this state is persistent, I would urge you to consider your long-term health which may very well mean coming off the diet. I pushed myself too far through the state, and am still feeling the effects.

So; be sensible with your body! :)

Hi peony
Sorry you are being affected like that. Although you are drinming a lot of water, the same amount I did it's important to drink it evenly throughout the day rather than in bouts.
Also LL does have a medical team, hyou could contact them for advice before considering giving up, I expect others may have experienced similar side effects.I hope you feel better soon.
The aim of LL is to mmake you feel better rather than worse.

Hey all
Thanks for your words of advice and support. When I don't have a headache I feel great, boundless energy etc. I think it is only on days when I push myself physically that the headaches come on - next time I get the first warning of one I will have half a pack regardless of when the next is due ( I tend to normally stagger my 4 evenly as poss through the day) and see if it heads it off at the pass.

I know my health is important but no way headaches are going to make be give up LL. I am with this till I hit my target, come hell or high water lol. That is why I haven't spoken to LL about it - I don't want someone telling me I can't do this. I still have 7 odd stone to go, so not even vaguely tempted to throw in the towel! Just got my blood pressure back from borderline high prior to LL to normal so it can't be all bad health-wise.

Don't worry SB, I drink a glass of water and then a bit later I drink a glass of water and a bit later....speaking of which where's my water....

Too right! I felt exactly the same way! Towards the end, I was getting a lot of Dizzy Spells - my inlaws were concerned, but I told them no way was I quitting - a little discomfort is nothing to snivel about....not when I knew I would be at the end soon!!

I understand how you feel Peony. :)

No pain, no gain. No gain, slim body. :D

hehehehe

I'm sure it will pass, or come and go. You are sensible. If it really got to something that was dangeroud - then of course you put yourself first - but a headache will pass. If it doesn't you can always speak to your doc and see what their advice is. You always have the final choice in what you decide to do. :)

Good on ya girl.
