lean lamb and lean beef

Hi. Is lean lamb and lean beef both free on red days? Or is it just the lean lamb?

Thanks

Hi

Do you mean mince? Minced beef should be extra lean, but a lot of us use lean as it's cheaper and usually on some link deal or offer and drain off the excess fat from cooking.

If you mean other meat, not minced, then all visible fat should be removed.

HTH

Hellie :)

lean minced beef is syns and extra lean isn't.

I just use turkey mince now anyway TBH cos it's half the price!

The lamb mince, if I do get it, I always get from a Be Good To Yourself or Healthy Living range to make sure it's free.

Pork mince from these ranges is usually good too.

And yep, for just general meats, trim trim trim!!

Hiya. thanks to those that posted. yes i did mean minced meat. I'm just a bit confused cos i have to get it from a halal butchers and can't buy from normal shops.

just drain any fat off after you have cooked it and it should be fine, thats what i do with lean mince

To make it leaner, after dry frying put it in a colander and pour boiling water over it - takes away all fat - then drain and cook as normal.

Oooh I wouldn't ever do the rinsing thing or the colander thing, you lose all the flavour, and there still might be fatty sinew actually in the mince peices themselves.

everyone does it different though so if it works for you, do it! :D
