What to have with meat?

Brightonrosie

I want to be fitter again
Not really done red days only at weekends but now I would like some ideas other than salads or sandwiches to take to work. What do people have with their meat or fish for their main meals and what do you snack on when peckish ?

I usually have squash mash; broc & cauli mashed with laughing cow light; roasted veg; asparagus & green beans; babycorn

I usually aim to have two veg on the plate with the meat to bulk it out a bit so usually what happens is 2/3 of my plate is veg and 1/3 is meat.

I tend to snack on fruit or lunchmeat like ham, etc.

This is why I do EE. I'm always hungry on red days and I just don't have a problem on EE!

I am the same. EE is much easier and more can be made for snacks and lunches without having to plan and think too much!

I always go for roasted butternut squash, it tastes just like sweet potatoes except you can have them on a red day! Just peel and de seed, watch your fingers lol, cut into cubes and put in a tray that you've sprayed with fry light, spray a bit more on top and I like to sprinkle with a little rosemary. High temp for about half an hour and enjoy!

All brill ideas. Also to take to work, I like tubs of the good for you or whatever low fat ranges of cottage cheese and chives, or pineapple. If you fancy a savoury hit and can't face another muller light or shape fuller for longer then this is great, chunks of sandwich meat like lean ham shredded into it with chunks of celery makes quite a satisfying snack.

Thank you all. I never thought of butternut squash mash and i really like it roasted

I'm doin SW (again!) with my husband so we have a lot of red days. We always have our HEX B 227g jacket potato cut up and baked as SW chips with our main meal and lots of veg. Therefore we have steak & chips, burger & chips, gammon, egg & chips etc... it's endless and you feel fuller.

Plus I travel a lot with my job and often have to eat on the run and therefore red days are easier for me to grab & go as I'll buy packets of meat or smoked salmon to munch on on the train.

I love Butternut squash and swede mashed together with VFF fromage frais and black pepper. I would also sav 198g baby potatoes and make roasties with them and roasted veg is a favourite.

i always have cold meats to hand to snack on.. but why dont u have a pasta salad with meats? or if you have a microwave on hand at work.. you can do all sorts.. when i worked in my last hairdressers i'd bring in left overs from night before.. spag bowl.. meat balls.. the lot LOL x
