Can Doctor refuse to sign CD form, even though i have no medical problem.

hi all,

please help me...i am 4 stone overweight and i took cd form to doc but she said she doesnt think it works and is not happy to sign incase i died. and that she'd rather i take xenical. but i reminded her i was medically fine to join any diet. she later signed but after a long hustle and she said in future she will charge for any other signing or information that cd might require...........is this standard practice? has any1 expirienced it and whats the best way to deal with it. sorry its long but am desperate.and how often would i require to see the doc while on ss (cd).

Yes they can refuse. It can happen if the doctor doesn't know much about the diet, or even dieting come to that.

Assuming the doctor hasn't listed any illnesses, ie diabetes etc, you can do the 1200 plan until you get down below BMI40, then of course, you can SS without their permission.

The 1200 plan is good, so don't lose hope!

BTW, is there another doctor in the practice that might be more clued up?

There are some docters that dont like these sort of diets at all, and so wont put their name to it. I remember wen i needed to get my signed last year and he wanted to charge me £15. I laughed. Its funny that they dont like the diet and wont put their name to it, yet give them £15 and they will!

I didnt pay, I just came off the medication i was on! turned out to be the best thing i did even if i did failt he diet first time round!! lol

kd is it really possible to ss without the docs knowledge?
in the form they say that the cdc will inform the doc if u decide to ss after joining the 1200 or any other hhmm am bored with my doc. its funny she'd rather i get xenical than starve.

Yes, she would have to tell the doctor if you went on to SS when below BMI40, but not ask his permission. Just a standard letter saying "guess what??"

If you did 1200 to BMI40, then went on to SS+, which is as close to SS as you can get, she wouldn't have to tell your doctors (assuming fit, well, no meds etc)

so that sounds your best bet. SS+ has similar losses to ss anyway.

some doctors are fine with it others not, i didnt need a signed form due to start bmi but i told my doctor i was doing cd and 3 stones down and not a slightest bit of intrest so im guessing they probably would have done if needed to get rid of me lol
