veggies and salad

Hi cc peeps

I do not personally count for salad and veg in my diet but try and allow 400 cal a day for this (I eat a large salad for lunch, and at least 5 - 8 portions for tea(both salad and veggies - but no sweetcorn). I tend to eat between 800 - 900 of other bits (cereal, milk, whole bread, cheese, lean meat and dinner carb i.e rice, pot or pasta). Do you think I am allowing enough cals for my vegie intake?

Salad veg especially are so low in cals, so you can eat tonnes of them guilt-free! I think I read on the bagged salad I had earlier that a quarter of the (biggish) bag is only like 11 cals! I think the danger is in the dressings on store-bought salads, but if it's home made, then again, no worries.

400 cals a day for other veg also sounds loads, even if you're having them as often as you (well done on that btw!) so you should be fine to set that amount aside for them. I'm never sure whether we're allowed to link on here, but if you net search "calories in veg" and go to weight loss resources, then there's an extensive list of veggies, which should give you a rough idea :)

Thanks for that Lala, I tend to not really eat dressing, if I am treating myself I have a small amount of ultra low fat mayo, but have got out of this habit now.

I am fairly sure my diet is ok so I will keep doing what I am doing....

400 cal sounds like plenty for salad and veg I'd say. And if you feel it's working for you then that's all that really matters :). Good luck with your goal!
