Transition from 810 to 1000

MissPinky

Shrinky Pinky!
'Evening all - I'm moving up from 810 to 1000. Is it likely I'll experience either a stay-the-same or some slight weight gain moving up to 1000? As some of you know, I had this for a week or so on 810... it scared me witless, but weight loss resumed in earnest within a week, and I'm wondering if 1000 is similar given the increase of carbs? I know overall weekly losses will be less.

I'm carb sensitive (carbs trigger IBS, and a lot of abdominal pain and bloating for me) and I'm a little cautious of the step up to 1000 re: carb intake. I was wondering about gradually phasing in these extra carbs in the 3a step over a week or so, until I get them all incorporated. Has anyone else done this?

Hey there hun

Everyone is different but yes a sts or slight gain can happen when you move up the plans but as you know if you stick with it the losses will come back. If memory serves me right I think 3a is the option you should use if you are working up the plans. 3b is for people who are either only doing 1000 or are moving down the plans.

Gx

Thanks - my CDC said to start with 3a, eventually (week or two) move onto 3b, then upwards again etc. when stepping up to stabilise. As long as ultimately I can lose my final 4lbs somewhere in 1000-1200 I'll be reasonably content.

Am mainly just worried about carb-bloating and associated IBS rubbish after months of very little of it (following years of a LOT of it!).

Im starting 1000 on Wednesday, very nervous too! But excited too.

Cool :) - we should gee each other up as we progress through it and find out the 'quirks' (and joys) we'll undoubtedly find it has!

Lets do it miss pinky! We both have the same amount left to lose. I'm not even really bothered about these last 4lbs, it won't make much of a difference but so important to me to reach that number in the scales. Maybe I'm just stubborn!

Hiya Pinky,
I've just completed week 2 on 1000, having moved up from 810. I lost 3lbs the first week and then sts the 2nd. Looks like i'm heading for a small loss this week.
As you mention IBS, i'm very carb sensitive and have suffered terrible bloating and constipation on 1000. But bloating seems a lot better today and have finally had a number 2 :)

Sounds entirely reasonable, not stubborn! :)

I just shifted my goal slightly, which is where my 4lbs has come from - it was 11st/70kg (just about reached) and then I set my sights on 10st 10lbs/68kg instead... and my mom remembered that's how I was for years... so like you say, it's important to reach that number on the scales for me too.

I should have started today... but I had absolutely none of the brekkie and starchy carb options in the house, having banished them when I started this. So I've had a last day of 810 instead and done a wee bit of shopping at lunchtime. I'll start 1000 tomorrow morning.

Good luck hun, keep me updated! Wow dreamingmaud, I hope I have a similar 1000 loss, I wish!

Hi Dreamingmaid - good to hear about your progress on 1000 so far, esp the losses and anticipated losses! - sounds like you're settling into it. I hope that happens for me too.

Thanks for the heads-up re: the bloating and constipation. In all likelihood it'll get me too :( - forewarned is forearmed. Back to Boots for another batch of Windeze... They see me coming now - know the pained facial expression and what product it requires!

I'd never thought of taking windeze Pinky, thanks for the tip....i am going to buy some today....my tummy is still bloated.

You will really enjoy 1000 step, it seems overwhelming at first but wait until you eat some fruit....MY GOD! I died and went to heaven. It seriously had never tasted so good.
I am enjoying 1000 but not the bloating/constipation side of it....it is seriously uncomfortable and plays havoc with the scales. I guess that's even more of a reason to just do a weigh in once a week...i am a self confessed serial scales hopper.

Good luck to you both. Eyeontheprize youhave done incredibly well...over a hundred pounds is some acheivement.

Thanks dreaming maid! I feel much better. Started 1000 today, a day earlier but I'm on a course and can't have my tummy growling all morning. An egg on toast never tasted so good! X

Started 1000 this morning as planned… how weird to have no added sugar muesli and find that it's actually sweet enough! All those years adding honey… Also weird that by 11am I was still not hungry - it kept my hunger at bay. Normally by 10.30 I'm grumbling away even on CD porridge!

Am saving up egg on toast until the weekend - where I would normally do an egg muffin in the days before CD. Now it’ll be a poached egg on Hovis Granary, with a twist of black pepper :) OMG I have missed eggs!

And the fruit this evening after my meal... totally understanding the 'died and gone to heaven', dreamingmaid! I was astonished at the amount of raspberries and strawbs to make up 50cals. Feel a bit sick, but that'll be the sugars.

Today has been amazing. 1000 is fabulous. I can see myself continuing with it for at least a month and hopefully get 4lbs or more off in that time.

A few days into 1000 and I'm really enjoying it :) Fruit=a gift from the gods! Got eggs back this morning - had one poached on a small piece of Hovis granary. Just enough to satisfy for most of the morning! Looking forward to the same tomorrow.

Did anyone else moving up to 1000 find that the recommended 40g (dry weight) of rice/couscous/wholewheat pasta was actually massive and way too much for them to consume? I'd far rather have the protein portion, extra veggies and about half the prescribed amount of 'starchy carb'... but I have been veggie for 27 years so am well used to meals consisting of veg, veg and veg.

I am starting to see how CD can help change habits and encourage a future of healthy eating. Portion sizes are the biggest realisation so far from the 1000 step. I know my limits and am very aware of them - especially my 'tummy full' limit. And matching portions sizes on the plate to that is surprising. I was never portion-aware before - would just keep on eating and eating and eating... then feel sick and bloated.

After just under a week, my scales are showing a downwards shift too, so I feel a little more comfy with 1000 than I did a week ago.

eyeontheprize - if you're out there tonight, how are you finding it?

PS - so far no bloating and IBS symptoms... which has been a surprise. Maybe that's still to come...

Ooooh it's great to read about how you ladies are doing. I'm on 810 now for 2 more weeks as my CDC is on holiday and will then go on 1000 for a week and then 1200 the following week etc. I'm feeling apprehensive, but look forward to having cereal and fruit again!

It's such a great feeling to have the goal in sight! It's scary to think about maintenance, but it's all about head stuff and changing habits and CD has given my head a bit of a breather for the past few months (as I haven't had to worry about food) and now I feel ready to tackle my demons.

Well done everyone!:wee:

Good luck with your upcoming maintenance, herewego! :) I think apprehensive is 'normal' - and one of the reasons I started posting on this very matter of transitioning up the steps. Keep thinking I should start a Pinky thread on the 1000 forum... but it's busier and more traffic here :)

I know what you mean about the breathing space for the head. I've pretty much decided to design myself a maintenance 'plan' to keep myself on track. I'm almost ready to start plotting it out, but I want to step right up first and learn what I can from the CD steps.

What I never thought would work for me but what has worked better than anything is the prescribed plan and menus. I don't feel comfy 'abandoning' myself to how I ate before, which was seat-of-the-pants and spontaneous. Yeah, spontaneous is a sense of 'freedom' and independence, but I don't think I got the balance quite right :(
And we all know where that leads...
