Help - don't like my consultant

Well, I don't exactly dislike her, but she just doesn't motivate me. I have spoken to several people recently who told me they were doing SW but left the group because of the consultant. She talks a lot about the syn values of various alcoholic drinks (not that I mind much - like a glass of wine myself) but I want to hear more during Image Therapy than the syn value of a Bacardi Breezer and a Pot Noodle!
I begrudge spending £4.50 a week to attend class when I just come away feeling flat about the plan. On the weeks when I've had a bad week and gained a few pounds she hasn't said anything inspiring to get me back on track again. I get more supportive comments on here.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Im so sorry that your SW experience is making you feel like this.

is there another group not to far away ...... ( for example theres 3 in a 5 mile radius from me)

your right though its so important to be inspired by your consultant. if you cant get to another group maybe still go to your current one and use us for insperation about the plan I know its not the same as 1 to 1 but im sure we1`d all be happy to help.....well at least i know i would :)

let us know how it goes :) xxx

My daughter and i had exactly the same thing so we changed days to a new consultant who we thought was much better but she left and we now have an amazing consultant who has been at target for 4 years, is interested in us as individuals brings loads of recipes to image therapy boosts us if we has a small gain but still lavishes the praises for our hard attempts. We have a lovley group discussion about peoples ups and downs and we share life and food stories. If it is at all possible where you live, change days and go to someone new the difference could be the line between looosing weight and staying the same. You have to like your consultant as you need to be able to trust her expertise. Big hugs to you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks to both of you! I have considered joining another group but i just about make it home from work in time to attend the group i go to. In order to go to another group I'd have to travel too far.

In spite of it being my "star week" (do they call your period week "star week" in all SW groups?!!) I had a pound off at WI tonight after having 2 or 3 bad weeks where I'd put weight on. My consultant didn't comment one way or the other. I didn't bother staying for Image Therapy. Am seriously contemplating leaving but know that I need the discipline of being weighed by someone else each week at group.

arr hun i must say that doesnt sound too good ok dont get me wrong im not that keen on my consultant either but put it down to a personalitly clash as everyone else says she is brill. i was going to surgest that maybe try another group or if you cant do that and really cant stay in group you could go alone and use this group as your surport and weigh in etc there is a few people on here that go alone or online but i dont know the cost on the online even if it is till you can find a group that you can go to with diff consultant. or even ask her straight up can you do anything to change ya weight lose around ask for food diaries and HELP as you dont want to pay for something that isnt working for you then see if she changes. good luck hun and let us know the outcome of what you decide. xxxx

If you can manage to lose weight without going to class then I'd do that. But I couldn't do that. I need the discipline of a class. But if I didn't find the leader motivating I'd have to change to another class. Are there any near where you work?

Ive had the same issue everytime Ive joined a new group. I get bored sooooo easy. I also dont like it if they just go on and on and on about syn values of alcohol and how much they have drunk over the weekend or holidays and JUST picked up 5lbs.
The one I have now thinks she is a standup comic. Ive not been back to class in 2 weeks. My last experience was like a scene from Little Britain, when Margory from Fat Fighters tells the Asian lady to speak English!....well I have a South African accent and when I was trying to discuss my week with my consultant, she said in front of the whole class..."I didn't understand a word you just said, did anyone else get that?"......yes, everyone but her.....I won't be going back. My hubby and I are doing fine without her and I will spend the £9- a week on a reward for us.

It's difficult when you don't like the leader, our last one had "favourites" and to me was in it for the money and not helping you. The one we have now is super! Everything a leader should be. Now, I suggest that you email head office and explain how you feel, if no one complains then they won't be able to do anything. If you can get others to do the same so much the better! Then they will send someone from head office to check (they take it seriously, they sent 3 people to my old class posing as visitors ,we're by the sea, and then carpeted the above leader after a complaint)She won't find out it's you.

Thats really crap, i know i couldnt ahve lost all my weight without my consultant. and image therapy and its a big part to play in the whole weight loss journey, its what you rely upon after a bad week to get you back on track.

Its a shame that youl find it difficult to attend another group, how about signing up online so you still have the online support? or if you feel like you could go it alone, (with out help aswell!) then go for it, better than wasteing money on somthing thats not doing its job properly for you!

As the others have said really Hun...if you cant find something close to you, then you should put a complaint into Head Office. The Consultants are there to provide support, guidance and advice whilst you are on your journey to loose weight. If you feel that you are not getting this, then there may be others who feel the same way.
My Consultant was fab, I see her now and again and we always have a chat regardless of the fact that I am doing the plan at home.
She has seen me get married and also go through pregnancy and after. My little one is now 3.5 and I still have a fantastic relationship with her.

Hugs to you.

I cannot believe she had the bloody cheek to say that! HOW rude?? No wonder you ahve not been back!!

I must admit i did not find my current C motivating and i find i sometimes have to approach her. However i think after i sent her a very honest emeail after having a couple of bad weeks she has 'taken' more to knowing about me and she is now soooooo supportive. The only thing i find annoying is that she tends to get the group to answer peoples downs and offer solutions rather than 'leading?'.

I'd much prefer her to have a bit more oomph and input - this may be one reason why i've had SUCH a slow start.

I did SW last year before my holiday and in the same time lost 20lbs - this time i've lost 9. But my old C was fantastic, very motivating, made time to get to know everyone and was very funny - always sharing personal stories.

If i were you i would see if there is an evening group nearby that maybe starts a little later. I know our Image Therapy doesn't start until 40 mins after the doors are opened for weigh in.

I too need the discipline of those scales!

Oh and send an email to head office! It really isn't funny or acceptablexx

I left a group partly because of my first C too. Technically she was great and she does it as a full time job and not a second job, so she was mostly fab efficiency wise (apart from with CDs as I said in that thread). But her attitude was not the best - she could be really biting and she had 'faves' in the group who got lots of time and she 'skipped' over others.

To me a good C is essential if you go to group - it can make or break your spirit.

My new C is awesome - think she's brill. She's funny and positive and encourages everyone to join in the chats and often 'mixes' it up regarding how we do each week.

If you can change do - if you don't enjoy group and stop going, it can have a big impact on your journey xxx

in some ways I think that's rascist:mad: my C ignores me when I have a question. At the end of the session I was stood in a queue wanting to speak to her and even though it was my turn next, she completely ignored me and went to speak to someone else, making me the last in queue to speaki to her . Then she totally ignored me by carrying on packing her stuff away. :sigh: I am so glad I have reached target, 2 stones by myself and the other half with SW. My motivation for reaching target was the pleasure of not having to pay any more money for such rudeness:break_diet:

id did sw a few years ago and lost 4st but although my C was lovely but not very motivating and if anything was brought in to taste it was usually one of the other women who fetched it.if there are a few of you could you not have a day once a week and go to oneanothers house in turn to weigh in and talk. it wouldnt cost anything or maybee you could have a pot for the one who loses most in the month or maybee you could get a few at work to do it together you could all do your own diets......kath

I agree that you should let Head Office know. They can't change anything if no-one tells them and lets face it, it's their business if they are losing money and reputation due to bad consultants.

Keep coming on here, these are a lovely bunch of people and very helpful with any queries. Good luck with your weight loss :)

Sorry you feel like this, is it that you don't like the consultant as a person or you just don't like the things she covers in class. If it is the first of these then try and join another class, if it is the second, have you thought about asking her to cover the issues you would like to hear about. Sometimes if one person speaks up about issues, others in the group who feel the same but won't speak up will pitch in and support you. I totaly agree that spending money everyweek for something you are not getting the benefit from is pointless but at the end of the day, your consultant is there to help you and she should consider everyones needs when doing a class. Good luck and hope you can make some changes for the better.

That is disgusting!!

I've stopped going to class because my consultant just doesn't inspire me. She's never once asked to look at one of my food diaries (even during my first month), we've never once had a taster evening and she has about as much oomph as a limp lettuce leaf (but she's a very nice lady).

If someone gains one week, she says - do you know why? If they say yes, she says good and moves onto the next person, no discussion or help involved. Even if they say no she doesn't offer much advice.

The only recipes she ever hands out are from lifeline online, and most of us can access them ourselves anyway.

I'm currently looking for another class but I'm not holding out much hope. My first ever C when I got to target was brilliant, she was quite new, was motivating and inspirational, got to know everyone, did different things each week (quizzes, chats, buffet nights, etc etc) and really made us feel part of 'something' but alas she wasn't very well so doesn't do classes anymore.

ah well, the search goes on!

I really hope all of those of us with rubbish consultants manage to find a good one that actually wants to help us with our weight loss journey rather than just take our money.

Good luck everyone.

I have read all the posts and most with horror!! My C is fantastic, she is so supportive, listens to everyone (sometimes that can be annoying because then group goes on forever..), she is always bringing new foods in she has found, she calls you or emails or sends you a text message at the start and throughout my time there if she knows I need a boost she will send me a SW e-card or give me a call (or post on my Facebook wall), she helps everyone as much as they want and everyone in group has a laugh, I miss it when I don't go. I feel so sorry for all of you that are having a bad time & the only things I can offer are to complain to SW & try to find another group near you that has a better leader.

Good Luck Everyone
