IBS?

Hi guys,

Was just wondering whether anyone has experience of doing LL when they have been previously diagnosed with IBS?

I was diagnosed about 6 years ago but have managed to keep it in check pretty much and have not needed my medication at all in the last year or so.

I started LL last tuesday and had a bit of a problem with bloating etc so by the second day took my tablets and everything was good.

Yesterday however, it really blew up and i was in agony last night. the really awful pain has gone but i have been left with a tummy that is feeling swollen and tender. I am miffed! :( i have my first WI tonight and i am sure it is going to affect my result.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so is it something that can be overcome?

Thanks in advance

Lulu xx

My mum is doing LL like me and she has IBS. Sorry if tmi but she was going about 4-6 times a day and now she can hardly go. She has to use 1 x Dulcolax every couple of days or she ends up like you, bloated and in pain.

How often have you gone may I ask since starting LL? It could be that you need a bit of a clean out.

I hope you get things sorted soon x x

Hi sexy,

thanks for your reply, things on that front have been a little slow, but then they generally are. i didnt really think that they had been worse than normal, but you could be right.

I spoke to the counsellor today and she didnt really seem to know, so think i will see how it goes and if i dont feel better in a few days will go and see my doc.

plus side was that i lost 8lbs at my first weigh in, so dead chuffed about that!

I have IBS and the first couple of weeks of LL took a bit of getting used to as I was massively constipated. However, I had psillyum husks once a day and that extra bit of bulk got things moving properly.
Do make sure you drink plenty of water too as this can soften things up. I avoided dulcolax as it doesn't actually get things moving in your large colon so can cause more problems than it solves.
I also had a colonic every month for good measure to give my colon a bit of a workout. I've been eating properly for 10 months now and my IBS problems are minimal. Hope you can get things balanaced out soon xx

Thanks for your replies. Am going to speak to doctor tomorrow and see what she advises. Dont want anything to stop me doing this as im really getting into the zone now! hopefully its just a case of everything settling down x
