I have been watching what I eat and been eating half the amount of calories that i was eating and feeling better for it. But I have managed to gain weight, yes it might only be 2lbs but I am being really good and enjoying trying to loose weight for the first time in years and this has really baffled me. any ideas?

You've done really well so far. Don't despair!

Perhaps you are not eating enough. Make sure that you're eating the right amount per day otherwise your body might go into starvation mode.

The other factor could also be stress and worry or time of the month. I'm currently reading a bit more about how the body works and how weight loss works. It's incredibly complicated. There seems to be an explanation for everything and weight gain is not as simple as we would like to think.

Take it easy and enjoy doing more of the right things! You're on the right track! Well done!!!

I don't know if this would work, but its worth a try maybe. Calorie cycling? For instance you'd have 1400 cals one day, 1100 another etc. It's meant to trick your body or something, so that you metabolism keeps at it. I haven't tried it yet but probably will in a few weeks.

Also, that must be really frustrating that your trying so hard and gaining. Just keep at it and stay strong, I'm sure you'll start reaping the rewards soon enough :)

i know this probably wont help but my weight can fluctuate from 2lbs between a morning and evening. Just keep at it and see how it goes next week. x

you only knew that because you are on your scales too many times a day. naughty girl.

:) you know me too well fb.

how much water are you drinking? it could be water retention? are you exercising lots more? we retain water when we start using long-neglected muscles.

you are eating half the amount of cals as you did before... how many is that?

i'm sure if you keep at it you'll get results.

hi thanks for the posts. I am now eating around 1200-1400 cals and I am exercising for about 30 mins a day. I have started to drink more as well so I am keeping at it.

you could be building muscles instead which weigh more but burn more fat in the long run...

also could be using scales at diff times of the day which does differ weights..
