Suddenly remembered that I'd cut an offer out of the Mail a while ago so gave them a ring - didn't think it would still be available. The ship sails from Rome so I've arranged for us to arrive a day early so that we get a chance to look around, then we're off with stops at Elba, Florence and Pisa, Nice, Cannes, St Tropez and Palma before flying back home from Barcelona. It's a really good deal so fingers crossed it'll be nice...........won't hear the end of it from Mother if it doesn't live up to expectations Suddenly remembered that I'd cut the offer out of the Mail a couple of weeks ago so gave them a ring - didn't think it would still be available. has anyone sailed with the Orient line ??

Glad you've got it sorted Demon - sounds great ... but are you going 3 times??!!
I've never been on a cruise myself - but lots of people i know have and have really enjoyed it. Hope you and MIL enjoy yourselves!

Hi, Being a cruise addict I asked a million questions when you mentioned the cruise on your maint. diary.

If you mean Orinet Lines, then they have a good reputation and the food is meant to be excellent. I think the ship I know of, the Marco Polo is a bit older, but still in good nick.

Apparently cruising the Med can be tiring as there are loads of stops with lots to do.

Don't think you'll be disappointed, but look forward to reading all about it when you get back.

Green with envy :)

Soraya I've answered your maintenance query over on my thread.

About the cruise - glad to hear that the Orient line has a good reputation - know absolutely nothing about cruises as we've never done a sea one before. It is the Marco Polo and I gathered from the blurb that it's an older ship - around 700 passengers so not as big as some - guess that's why it was such a good deal.

When it's only a weeks hol Mr.D and I really prefer to flop on a beach somewhere and do very little, but that doesn't suit Mother at all - she gets bored very easily

Her preference is for city breaks which we also enjoy, but it does mean I'm expected to be the tour guide so get back to work in even more need of a hol than before we went lol Hoping that as there's lots of stops on this cruise she'll have plenty to keep her occupied and, even more importantly, I won't have to organise any of it
