Hints for newbies

Tracey1404

Enjoyin' my journey....
Hi - I start CD on Monday 10 August - any hints on how to manage my first week. I have 93lbs to lose and it feels like an impossiblity. I have commited to CD, but all and any hints welcomed!:)

Hi Tracey,

Good luck for your journey! CD is really life changing, and I have lost 3 stone in 10 weeks!! It slides off quickly!

Good luck for your first week. Everyone has a different experience, but for me the first 3 days were the hardest! The third day I mainly slept - but the fourth day was much much much better!!!

The first 2 to 3 weeks were hard, as the cravings kept coming - after that is has been plain sailing!!

Don't loose your focus when you are half way through, by that point you feel good as your body is so much slimmer, so you can take your eye off the ball then.

I don't want this diet to be forever - so I haven't cheated. As I know that if I cheat, then another week of my life is taken up by being on this diet!!

Good luck for Monday!

Good luck for Monday. I agree totally with Lady B. I did come off diet there and it is so difficult to get back on focus. My other advice is to come on this forum as much as possible cos the ppl here really support each other and thye are brilliant. I feel as though I'e made some real friends on this. Good luck

Hi Tracey and welcome to the world of CD. As Lady B says it is life changing. The first few days are hard, I really noticed how much more time I had when I wasn't planning, preparing or eating food. So have a few dvds, magazine, books to keep you occupied and headache tablets in case you get one. Be prepared for a few long bubble baths and early nights to pass the time. When you first get into ketosis though you can get a boost of energy and a feeling well being that makes up for the bad bits.

Drink your water regularly throughout the day and you must have at least the minimum stated but where possible I always have more.

As I knew I was on this diet for a long time, from about week 4 I have only had an official weigh in every two weeks - this means I don't always feel like I am waiting for it to come. I also made a chart for my fridge that I cross off each night when I have completed a day - I have made these types of charts before but never finished one - mine now has 120 crosses on it and 70lbs lost :D

Overall just enjoy it, see the weight fall off and see it as a positive step you are making. It really is true that nothing tastes as good as being slim feels. And use Minimins for advice, support and inspiration - when the afternoons are dragging or I am finding it hard I take a look at the Inspiration Slide Slow and it gives me a great boost.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress (sorry it's a bit long!)

previously when asked for tips I've said that I did the whole 'last supper' thing the day before starting and it didnt to me any harm- well I now think it did! it put me in the frame of mind that it was ok to binge as Id loose it on SS through the next few days. So tomorrow- drink lots of water, cut down on the carbs!

Make sure you've always got something to keep you motivated, something you want to fit into or a (non food related!) treat when you loose the next stone.

Good luck with CD and stick with it!! stay on track, its so difficult to get back on track after a blip.

Hi tracey,:p
im starting the CD 2moro aswell im looking to lose at least 3st by xmas! i know exactly how u feel when u say it feels impossible but im determined 2 look WOW this xmas eve!:D
keep me updated on how things are going xxx

Buy cheap clothes from charity shops in sizes too small and hang them around your house.
Replace as they get too big!
Lots of fun

One thing I would say is stick with it-it really does work. Don't worry if you have weeks with slow losses-it will even out in the end. I haven't lost as fast as a lot of people on here-in fact the last 2 weeks of my losses have been rubbish, but it happens. If you know you've stuck to it 100% this diet will not fail you. I'm just over 2 stone away from my goal now-when I started in the middle of March I had 6 1/2 stone. No way could I have got this far on any other diet. I've also lost over 52 inches. When I first started it seemed really daunting-it does become second nature after a while though. You'll be there before you know it.:)

These worked for me:
1) Have someone take photographs of you from front/side/behind, preferably in your underwear/bikini. Look at them. This is what you really look like, sometimes you just can't see it when you look in the mirror.
2) My husband + my daughter = me. In weight. Scary.

hiya im due to start tomorrow 14th aug and im so pleased ive read this good luck to you and keep us updated on your weight loss:)

Hi Jo - hope your first week is going well, I'm in ketosis now - headache gone and feeling okay. Just hope weigh in is good!:)

Thanks minivix - my hubby took photos of me in my jeans & t-shire (side, front and back poses) - my body image was not matching the truth. I looked so frumpy it was scary! Gonna take piccys every 2 weeks from now on to track the difference.

ps if you want some fun go to www.mvm.com and build your virtual model - you can put in height, weight build then see what you look like as you lose weight. It is an eyeopener and good time filler if you are hungry!!:)

Hi

Im new to the forum (what a great idea!!) - started CD on SS 16 days ago and had been really good but on my weigh in on thursday i only lost 6 pounds! I was a bit disappointed as most people seem to loose loads of weight in the first week! How do you all keep motivated?
