Hi All

I bought a sachet of Asda Meat Free Sausage Mix the other day. Has anyone ever tried this before? It's like a dried mix that you add water to.

I was thinking of using it in the "chicken cake" which was being talked about on here a week or two ago. The recipe says to skin some syn free sausages and use the meat from them, but I thought this might provide a good alternative, and I assumed it would be fairly low in syns.

I'm not too sure how to syn this, I've just looked on lifeline online, and they come out as 4 syns a serving, which is 2 sausages, quarter of the packet. So 16 syns for the whole lot. Which is quite a lot. But it is based on the nutritional values on the back of the packet, which says "typical values (fried)" and obviously I'm not going to be frying them.

The instructions say that you make the mix up with cold water, leave to stand for 10 mins, then make into 8 sausages, and EITHER fry OR grill them, so I wonder why they have chosen to give the values for fried ones?

Dunno whether to put them in my recipe or not now, coz 16 syns sounds a lot to me, but not sure whether to count them as lower...

I'm thinking it would make a nice 'meat loaf' recipe....I would like the answer too please. X
