Hiya,

Well done on sticking with it.

It does get better after the first few days. I used to hate vanilla, now its one of my favourites. I even had it a few times on hols for breakfast! I dont drink it plain tho, I mix it with ice, water, a sweetener and a teaspoon of coffee, yum iced latte!!!! Chocolate is nice made with chilled peppermint tea. I used to cringe at these suggestions but now I've tried them I love them.

Invest in a hand/stick blender. If you are in the UK I believe Argos do them for about £5 and it makes a real difference to the shakes. I bought 2 different 'shakers' and still couldnt get the limps out - yuck. I wouldnt go anywhere without the blender now. It will be coming with me to a conference and dinner dance I am going on in 2 weeks time!

All the best.

i only ever use my shaker. i have two - one my mum got me from her cambridge diet counsellor and one from the gym - supposed to be for protein shakes but exactly the same as ours so that's fine!

well done for sticking with it. pretty soon you'll be wondering why you found it so hard! i found it soo difficult in my first week but nothing bothers me now with smells or foods etc.

well done and good luck xxx

Hey Sarah-Lou,

meant to ask you what your treat was for your 2nd 20lb mini-goal and what do you have planned for your next one?

I am going to treat myself to a set of sun beds (yes I know its not good for you!) for sticking thru this week following my holidays and a professional hair colour for losing my next stone, I usually do it myself.

Keep ploughing on and you'll get into ketosis - things should get eaasier frm then on.

I love smelling food, but at first it is hard and tempting. but think of the end goals and what you can achieve and you will find yourself less tempted.

I'm a big fan of the vanilla+coffee shake, it's my breakfast every day. BNut the peppermint tea + choc was, well, not to my taste at all!!

It's great that you're trying them though! Good luck with the flapjack, i've not had them yet but intend to before i finish on LT, it just has never really occured to me to get them most times when i ask for my weekly 3 x 7 of each shake!

Stick with it Pesty - it does become easier I promise you. I am in my second week and I almost feel silly for moaning as much as I did in my first week :D, maybe its easier for me as I quite like all the flavours even the flapjacks - but believe me when you get through your first week and you see the results on your weigh in - its all worth it :D. Good luck and keep trying.

Hiya Pestydebz

I dont like the soup much either but I find strawberry shake quite nice, but I have to say that I have to put 2 tablet sweetners in as well to make it a bit sweeter. I dont like coffee either without milk so I dont drink hardly any of it now either, I do like my coffee and I hate it black.

It does get a bit better but its hard. Hope you enjoy the shakes a bit more now but I have to say flapjacks arent going down well with anyone, my advice to you is dont smell it before you eat it :)

Hi Debz

Unfortunately, it is a bit of trial and error at the beginning until you have tried all the shakes, etc....I had some nightmares; like making the vanilla shake with hot water and it curdling and going,,,mmm...well, I dont care to mention! I couldnt even drink it. But that was a long time ago :)

I know what you mean about coffee. I am used to having milk in my coffee. So, I tried at the beg to have the sweetner, but it was just too sweet for me as I have not had sugar in my drinks since a teenager! It was strange....so, I just didnt bother with tea/coffee....until recently that is! I can now drink black coffee, probably about 1 or 2 a week and I can actually drink black tea too! It was Elle that had mentioned it the other week about finding it ok now, so I tried, and lo and behold I liked it.

Your palate changes whilst on LT, so dont despair...I would maybe try a weaker tea/coffee and see if that gives you a boost.

I wish you all the best and hope you find it a bit easier today.

i am seriousl;y addicted to black tea now scotsmist!! so strange, it was after 19/20 weeks and a few earlier failed attempts.

it is weak as gnat's p1ss mind you, teabag dunked for no more than 10 seconds - and i'm very picky with my brands too, lol!

it's worth trying things again as you go trhough LT.

mind you, i will probably NOT be trying peppermint tea + choc - made me gag. oddly enough hot vanilla might be ok - without the curdling, i reckon it's very much like white choc on its own.

Hang on in there it does get easier, i know a few of the guys put vanilla shake powder in their coffee, so maybe what you could do was have 1/2 a vanilla shake for one meal and then use the other 1/2 of the powder in coffee throughout the day

I had a lovely Ceylon the other day that my neighbour made! It was really nice...so, I might get some of those!

Hang in there Debz. I hated the soup my first week and never had the courage to try it again. Flapjacks are like marmite, you either love them or hate them, I don't mind them. When I started I just had a flapjack and 2 strawberry shakes a day. I tried the vanilla as a latte after reading about it on here and loved it, tried the chocolate with peppermint tea and hated it!!!!

I couldn't drink tea without milk but was happy to drink black coffee. While I was back to eating I tried tea with milk but hated it. I still have black coffee and can't face diet coke (which I used to drink gallons of before LT!) Your tastebuds definitely change over time.
