Sensitive :(

Hello all

I was wondering if any of you have been through what I am going through.
It is a very sensitive and embarrasing situation which I have only spoken to my boyfriend about.

I want a baby more than anything so I am actively trying to concieve but I have not had a period since about September last year. I am convinced this is because of my weight. If I lose weight do you think it will straighten itself out? Am I the only one? is there anything you know that can help me?

Your weight may be the problem and losing weight will only benefit you when you do fall pregnant, however there could be other reasons why you haven't had a period since last year. Have you been to see your GP? Polycystic ovaries can cause absent periods and weight gain. I think your first port of call should be your GP hun. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi, Thanks for posting, I can understand how sensitive this is for you ((hugs)).
I always had regular cycles even when over a BMI of 40. So would also suggest seeing your GP but be prepared to be told to lose weight - this is something you could discuss as they could perhaps offer support etc to help you / motivate etc. I saw my practise nurse for about 6 months at the very beginning of my weight loss journey (from 17 stone). I do believe her patience and empathy really helped me.

I hope that they are able to investigate matters further for you, as your weight doesn't seem 'that' bad as to cause loss of periods but there can be many reasons.

Good luck for the future - don't be embarrassed in going to your GP, I'm sure he/she will have seen it all before hun.

hi chuck
don't worry your not the only one
i hadn't had a period for at least a year before i started cambridge and their now back on track i do however have other problems
pcos being the culprit,
i can only suggest you carry on your wl journey and see your doctor, get them to refer you to a endocrinologist this will come in handy when your ttc anyway
good luck

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I have thought for a long time that I have Polycystic ovaries. I looked up the symptoms a while ago and I have quite a few of them. I am definately going to go and see the GP as I need to get it sorted. Im glad Im not the only one that has been through it and thanks for the encouragment :) it means alot xx
