Ok... so i think i have been being a bit dumb...

I love pasta and have been eating it 1-2 times a week with Tuna and low fat cheese.
I looked at packet of pasta and it says 190g = 321Cals

So i thought ok, thats great weight it out and cooked it

BUT my friend tells me that once you have cooked it it contains much more calories?!?!? Is it true? in which case me being good isnt so, as ive probably been going way over my 600cal's :-(

dont get me wrong i have lost 1 stone in 3weeks... but just a bit confused. how do you weigh out the correct amount of pasta? (if this is the case)

sorry, hope this make's sence!

thanx

I can't see how boiling something in plain water would make it have more cals, so I should imagine the calorie content you've worked out is correct. Maybe your friends meant when it is cooked with sauce added, which of course puts the calories right up, some pasta sauces are really high in cals. But of course you're just having yours with tuna and low fat cheese, so I think you're fine and I wouldn't worry x

on the packet it says 190g Pasta Dry weight = 321 Cal

so does this mean it is correct, when i cook it... its still only 321 cals?
sorry i sound really stupid, lol

I would have thought so, really don't see why not.

Yeah you're working it out right.

Maybe your friends are thinking of something like Bachelors Super noodles, their calorie chart confused the hell out of me so much that I had to check with their customer services "as served" means when cooked so 100g of cooked noodles, where "half pack serving" means just that so if you eat a full pack it's 522 calories but if you just quickly glance at this calorie chart it can easily be misunderstood as the pack is 100g I thought it was 174 calories per pack >.<

Batchelors Super Noodles Chicken 100g

Typical Values:
Per 100g as served - Energy: 729kJ/174kcal
Per 1/2 pack serving - Energy: 1094kJ/261kcal

Yes enjoy! I love pasta!!
