hi came across a reciepe in a mag that had cumin seeds in it what are there and has any idea where i would get some also are they on the sw free food list ? thanks
They are a spice that can be bought from any supermarket and yes they are free. They make a difference to a lot of dishes so its well worth getting some.
You can get ground cumin or cumin seeds. You will have eaten cumin lots but maybe never realised. It forms the base of many curry's but is not hot, just fragrant and spicy.
Ground cumin is just the seeds that have been pounded up.

i like the seeds as if you have a pestle and mortor and pound them, the smell and taste is so much more fragrant than powder. I love using it, it's also in alot of mexican dishes and italian winter dishes.
