The Good And Bad Of Last Night's Meeting

Scarlet Daisy

Hungry For Life
I've been having a really good time doing SW, especially as I've constantly been on Extra Easy, which is a doddle and never leaves me feeling deprived. I totally buy in to the whole SW idea...I enjoy the tension of going to WI, I stay for meetings (because they are fun) and I love all the stickers and certificates.

As I see it, doing the plan is a "game" and if I stick to the rules I'll win all the little prizes on the way and at the end I'll have my target body! Cool. Kind of dumb I know, but it works well for me and I am always motivated.

Last night, however, I felt really let down and cheated.

I was excited on the way to the meeting, because I was certain I'd lost more than half a pound...Which meant that I'd get my two and a half stone sticker. And I was RIGHT (in fact I'd lost two and a half pounds), also I'd won SOTW and probably would have been SOTM...But my Consultant was away and her replacement totally SUCKED.

She managed to come up with a two and a half stone sticker but when she told me I was SOTW she shrugged and said "I'm just filling in at this group, and I'm really disorganised, so I haven't got a certificate or a sticker for you". And she didn't even MENTION the idea of a SOTM...But surely that would have been this week?

I KNOW it's childish but I was MIFFED to say the least. I want my prizes dammit! These little motivational tricks are what I PAY for!

Still...Two stone and nine pounds in sixteen weeks is a bl**dy good loss and I've NEVER gained in all that time, only had one STS too. :D

So YAY for SW and EXTRA EASY! (But be assured I'll grab my proper Consultant next week and twist her arm for some more stickers and bits of paper!)

I can see where you are coming from, I lost 11lb in 2 weeks once and was really looking forward to getting my certificate and sticker, but the consultant at the time never gave out the certificates and that week only 2 of us stayed to class and she never did sow - I was gutted! I have since never been sow but am determined with our new consultant to get at least one some time soon - it does keep you motivated!

I'm sorry you had a sucky time...but WOW you are doing sooo well!! Can I ask a few questions? What does an average day's food look like for you? I am also on EE. Do you exercise as well, and what's your average loss each week? LOL sorry it's just that we are a similar starting weight and height and you are doing so much better than me. A few tips would be cool!

You sooo must get your stickers and awards, what a crap consultant! Make sure you collar your proper consultant next week and get them. What a fantastic result though, you are doing really well. I'd be interested in seeing what you eat as well cos I'm on EE, always looking for ideas.
Enjoy your extra lightness this week and here's to a great loss next week too. xx

First off wow, what amazing results you've been having!

Second I know what you mean about stickers and cartificates, I was deprived as a child, when I was at an e2e course (a course for for 16-19yr olds to get the skills to find employment blah blah blah) my tutor gave me a sticker chart! It was amazing, the best thing ever :D

You rudgy tackle your consultant and you get your stickers!

Scarlet Daisy well done to you.

I don't attend classes so I don't know what happens, but will you get your awards (belatedly) when your own consultant gets back, I certainly hope so, you have worked hard to acheive them.

Keep up the good work. X

Thanks everyone! I know I'm being a baby but like I said, these tricks of the mind/motivation are as much a part of the plan as eating the right foods.

I think my daily intake is pretty boring, (no really amazing hints or anything) but here we go:

First off, I've given up bread. I think bread is bulky, has too much salt in it and it encourages me to eat MORE bread (and put other stuff on it, lol). As soon as I gave up bread my blood-pressure reduced and I stopped feeling bloated.

On a normal day, I'd eat something like this:

Hex A - Semi-skimmed milk, for tea and coffee. I don't measure it (naughty) but I don't go mental with it either, I only use it for those drinks. I use sweeteners, although I do worry that they are not healthy.

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs (2), baked beans (half a can), onions and mushrooms (microwaved).

Lunch: A heap of King Prawns on lettuce, drizzled with Salad Cream, very low fat cottage cheese, diced apple (skin on). Hi Fi Bar (Hex B).

Dinner: Roast chicken (no skin), broccoli, boiled potatoes (skin on), boiled carrots. Muller Light.

Snacks: 2 Alpen Bars (or equivalent, synned), apples, 1 more Muller Light, maybe a Mug Shot (if I'm hungry in the evening), sometimes a Chocolate Options. Sometimes I eat Dairylea Light Triangles, on the dreaded Scan Bran.

Total Syns per day: Pretty random. I used to have 7 a day but went up to about 10 and my losses improved. I have a treat (last night I had a takeaway Chicken Chow Mein) once a week, which I love. Again, I don't go mad, I try to choose wisely and often my syns take the form of additional Healthy Extras.

God, I sound such a Teacher's Pet. Hahaha!

Scarlet Daisy - didn't you get the "fruit basket" for SOTW? In my group (and many others) we all bring in a piece of fruit and SOTW gets the lot.

Well done on your amazing losses though, you have done incredibly well - be sure to grab your consultant next time!

Ah Jaylou you are a star you have just reminded to grab some fruit before i go to weigh in! Dont usually forgot but had totally slipped my mind until you mentioned it. I dont have enough posts to thank you yet but i will as soon as i do. THANKS xxx

Yes, I did get that...But she had forgotten the basket and had no plastic bags! Luckily a nice fellow slimmer had one.

Oh and our group was a bit depleted, so there wasn't much and two of the fruits were so rotten I threw them out! Gosh I really AM having a moan aren't I?

Thanks though, I'm trying my best!

I hate when people bring manky fruit - why do they do that? It's not an excuse to empty the fruit bowl of rubbish!!

No who's having a moan! At least you got that SD! xx

Always happy to help! :D

Aww, well done scarlet daisy! I'd be miffed if my achievements had gone unrecognised too, after all that's why SW have the stickers and awards because they know it motivates people. Hope you don't get that consultant again, to be honest might be worth mentioning to your usual consultant about it as I'm sure SW won't be happy if someone isn't doing things properly (or even making an attempt to).

Me too - it's so disrespectful to bring manky fruit! I also try and take interesting vegetables, or usually a pack of fresh herbs as it's cheap but something different to help people spice up their meals!

I usually try to take varied items, like muller lights or skinny cow mini hot chocolates, or a different type of fruit. I've had SOW once and the whole group had brought bruised and manky apples, so i ended up with a plastic carrier bag full of apples, except for the mango that i had brought! I hate apples but luckily my rabbits enjoyed them! x

People should always remember to take something they wouldn't mind getting themselves....surely no-one wants a manky apple!!

That leader sounds pants! We had one once who didn't give out certificates or stickers and just talked about how she did Karate. Most of the class left!
I'm sure if you have a word with your usual leader she'll give you both next week Huney! You worked hard for them, and NO it isn't being a baby! They are awards, you deserve them! (I'd do anything for a sticker!)

needless to say she gave it to me...
