What Do You Do ?

Just wondering what everyone does for a living ?

I was a hotel manager for many years (worked there 12 years and worked my way up), spend a few years at home with the children being a full time mum now I work for the government within legal aid.

I deal with funding for family law cases (care etc) and spend my days looking at costs and making legal decisions on cases which are going to/currently within the court system. It is very challenging and interesting, although much of what I read can be heartbreaking.

Before I got this job I had a uni place to study operating department practice (I come from a medical family) but then realised that it would be too hard financially - would get a bursary but no family credit so couldn't afford childcare.

Just interested in what others do?

I work for a company that sells maps, sort of strange maps. for example underwater ones, and the moon. I do the accounts for them although at the moment I feel like a PA because I am typing up agendas, however its nice to have a break :)

I am a controller for a security company (I do all the rotas and sort all the guards and dog handlers out!!!). It's very much a people job.

I finish this job on 6th Sept as I am returning to uni so I will be a student again! x

Only me, that sounds really interesting ! It's ncie to do something a bit out of the ordinary !

Soon, your job sounds good too ! (Any hunky security guards) Hehehe
What are you doing a Uni ???

Lots Charley lol I get to speak to men all day long! It's fab!

I'm going to study Egyptology at uni (I want to be a lecturer eventually!). Lots of hard work but I can't wait! x

I work in IT for a government contract ... and wow abgout Egyptology, that sound so cool.

Wow that is so interesting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bet it will be great, I went to Egypt once when I was 14, didn't like it much as it isn't like Sharm is now, we were in Cairo and it was either very rich or very poor, plus the men kept touching me because I was white (and t 14 I was freaked out).

I am sure 20 years later it is much different ! I enjoyed the pyramids and museums tho !

Hi Bn, I kinda work for the government but in a quango, but just say I am a civil servant as it's easier than explaining I am a legal caseworker blah de blah, no one ever knows what that is !

I'm a primary school teacher and head of Science at my school. I teach Year 6, so they're in their last year at primary school. Love my job, it's all I ever wanted to do, but don't like all the paperwork or SATs!

Egyptology sounds amazing. I did my degree in history and love teaching it to the children.

the men still touch you....i went in Feb and am going back in Sept (can't wait)

I fly over to Belgium a lot...where the company is based which is quite cool. however on the flight I got to talking to a rather dashing man. I asked him what he did and he said I am an electrical and cable engineer blah blah blah it sounded so boring, I then followed up with I do the accounts for a map company! I am just as boring haha

With the current financial situation it's been hard to find work. I supliment my income by working for an adult chatline. It's something I don't really tell anyone in real life as I'm unsure of the reaction I'd get - but it's just a bit of easy money really. It's nowhere near as awful as people would imagine!

x

I manage PAs at an international law firm I am not going to name!

Egyptology sounds fab, wish I'd done something like that. My first degree was in Politics - not as dull as it sounds - and am now doing what I really wanted to do originally, which is Literature, via the OU.

I'm the Managing Director of a recruitment company.

I 'officially' work as a human resources consultant, but with the current financial situation it's been hard to find work. I supliment my income by working for an adult chatline. It's something I don't really tell anyone in real life as I'm unsure of the reaction I'd get - but it's just a bit of easy money really. It's nowhere near as awful as people would imagine!

No way?? That's completely outrageous! I don't think I would have the nerves to do that! Good on you! x

I also work in legal aid, we provide welfare benefit advice for people on low incomes. Everyone else's jobs sound much more interesting :)
